I put a layer of dry verm on top when I canned them. I imagine it's not dry anymore though. Lol

Will do. One more question... Is it normal to see the soil settle an inch in the jars? There was no room when I canned them, yet now there is an inch of air space at the top of the cans.

I haven't seen that ever happen to any of my jars. And i haven't heard of that happening. Maybe someone else can chime in on that question.

From your initial response and this one it sounds like you got the dry layer of verm wet which could have caused the "sub" to settle.

If the dry layer got wet the ratio is now off for your ver/BRF/water.

The dry layer is to help keep out harmful bacteria and if you got water in the jar after the sterilization process you now have greater risk for contaminates and the mic is no longer in optimal growing conditions due to the excess water.

Did you get excess water in the jars and if so during which process?

If I add water to verm the verm end up taking MORE space than without the water.

I think to much water got in when I inoculated. I checked the marks on the needle and realised I put about 1.5cc's per hole (5 holes each jar). I was stupid.

I'm thinking about scrapping the jars and starting over. I may give them one more week. If I see no change they go bye bye.
