Inoculating Plug Spawn

Hey, does anyone have any advice for inoculating 5/16" fluted hardwood plugs with cubes?
I have the option to inoculate them with grain spawn or petri dish cultures. Do both work the same, or is one preferable? I need the plugs to start a bag of 'bunker spawn'** to use in outdoor cultivation, as growing cubes in a college dorm is risky.
** Bunker spawn is a term coined by Paul Stamets to describe a burlap sack filled with wood chips used to make 'mycofiltration' systems to regulate bacteria/algae growth. It also makes effective outdoor patches of mushrooms if placed in the right conditions [Stamets, "Mycelium Running: How Mushrooms Can Help Save the World"]

Yeah he's probably talking about woodlovers.
Cubes have issues with straight wood.

Yeah I wouldn't say cubes would grow in just wood chips. But I too want to know how to inoculate plugs for edibles.

Pasteurize in a water bath, then inoculate with grain would be my route. I'm sure ground brf or a Spiffy would work as well.

My petri dish cultures of the 'A+' cube strain have been trained to grow on wood through four generations of artificial selection. Grain spawn was inoculated with the petri dish cultures. I just want to know if its possible to transfer directly from culture to plugs because I use my grain sub for .. other purposes...
And I've found that after grain, wood selected species lose the blitzkrieg growth observed from my other experiments. The only reason I seek advice on the forum instead of running my own trials is because I'm in a transfer situation where all of my equipment is packed away. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Ground brf? Spiffy? My apologies, I don't understand those terms. Could you clarify?

So you've selectively bred a species to change what it eats but....ok brf is brown rice flour, made into a cake basically and colonized as such.
Haha sorry Spiffy was supposed to say slurry.

Do you reckon I can make a slurry with the petri dish cultures?
Yeah, I know it seems like a stupid question given that I've done things like this before, but I just want to know if it's worth using the cultures to directly inoculate the plugs, or just waiting until the grain spawn gets used to eating cellulose and lignin.

dont' inoculate plugs with any cube, your not training anything they have been dung lovers far longer then you have been training them. agar to grain g2g to bulk that isn't wood

I have seen cubes colonize wood but it has always been very wet wood and they fruit very very poorly.

they will easily stretch across it looking for available foood, wood is very low in nutritiuon by comparison to the bulk subs we use for cubes but all you get out of it is something to hold water

XD I made like 24 jars of different types of subs and inoculation methods last night, along with utilizing my Amanita Muscaria* culture to set up two jars of wooden plugs for that species. College is going to be interesting. [gradient:#00FF26,#]Thanks for the feedback.[/gradient]
Amanita culture came from this shroom:
 * There is a probability that the shroom shown is a Frost Amanita instead of a Amanita Muscaria

Pretty sure that's the yellow one which makes you feel very very sick the whole time and many people avoid them. The red and white is what your after for ingestion
