animals and dreaming
    #2057099 - 10/30/03 02:42 PM (13 years, 1 month ago)

Do animals dream when they sleep?

My cat's eyes are always moving when he's sleeping so I'm assuming he's dreaming, and I also thought I heard somewhere that animals do in fact dream.

Are animals in the "astral planes" too when they dream?

If they dream much like we do then couldn't that prove we really are no different then animals- our consciousness is not divine, greater or more spiritually adept, just more evolved?

If dreaming is to prepare us for the next dimension or 5th dimension then couldn't the fact that animals dream be used to prove that dreaming isn't any utility to prepare us for anything, just some strange occurrence that happens to many animals, regardless of the level consciousness?

Dogs dream quite frequently.

When my dog naps during the day, he whines and has muscle jerks. Those are symptoms of dreaming. As to what he dreams about, I'm not sure.

"If they dream much like we do then couldn't that prove we really are no different then animals- our consciousness is not divine, greater or more spiritually adept, just more evolved?"

physically, we are not very different from animals, the genome of a rat is very similar to that of a human. What does seperate us from other animals is that we are more self aware, we are cognizant of past and the future, and we can anticipate our own demise.
