ATL#7 questionable mycelium on grains , UPDATE 9-26
#20566481 - 09/14/14 01:45 PM (10 years, 4 months ago) |

about 2 weeks ago I inoculated a couple of grain wbs jars with ATL#7. Growth was slow compared to how it performed on agar. And this is my first time with a stone producing strain. Was just wondering if this mycelium looks healthy. If looks off white. And questionable
.
I hate posting on mobile Update: 9-26-14 WE HAVE STONES

Gonna do about twenty 5 pound bags of these things! !

IME, that looks good - the sclerotia producing Psilocybes mycelium always have a brownish hue from what I've seen.

You mean stonesun right? Cause I doubt sunstone could help you
They look a little off but that that don't mean its bad, did you shake the jars? Cause in my limited experience when you shake them they come back really slow and tomentose. Most of the time when I shake mexicana grain jars the ones I didn't shake not only finish faster but also outproduce them.
However I too will await stonesuns judgement.

It looks okay. I've noticed that mycelium sometimes aren't as white when the moisture content is a bit low, or the grains a bit lightly cooked. For sclerotia producers, this could make it a "dud" jar for sclerotia themselves. That's happened to me a number of times. So I make sure to cook and hydrate my sclerotia grains well.

Yeah I thought they looked that way, it's why I mentioned. Maybe they'll be fine but it will take weeks and months to really know... So if it were me, I'd use them as G2G masters, and/or "dunk" the grains to spawn for stones and fruits.

Right, but without much moisture they can't yield much, and without the grains being cooked up for them they can't easily consume much past colonizing the surface. It's happened to me several times.

since the verdict seems to be in my favor . i will g2g a few and dunk the remaining grains into a bulk .

Is it feasible to G2G after stone formation?
