BRF jars, what do you think?
    #20564124 - 09/13/14 11:25 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

Hey, I inoculated 11 MexiCub BRF jars 7 days ago. I have a couple that I am questioning, as they may have cobweb mold. The first picture looks okay to me, but im not sure about the second two. Let me know what you think. Thx!

Looks bacterial to me, please note though I'm a noob and could be completely wrong. If I'm wrong at least I bumped you to the top :P. Good luck.

Thanks ToxicDuck for your input and bump  The middle picture I was pretty sure was bacterial so I brought it outside to dump and clean with a 10% bleach solution. Upon opening I took a wiff to judge the smell and surprisingly it smelled of distinct mycelium. No funky smell whatsoever which is common with bacteria. Any further opinions from members is greatly appreciated

I had a jar that was 100% for certain infected with some bad bacteria, however, it also smelled like fresh mushies. Not sure why, I guess it just depends on the type of bacteria that it's infected with, and how severe it is. I'll keep monitoring the thread, but don't worry I'm sure you'll get some more opinions soon from a trusted cultivator .

I don't think it is a contamination. Cobweb would grow pretty fast, so if those spots you are curious about are growing at the same rate of the darker spots. I would have waited a little longer and see how that jar does instead of trashing it right away. Looks like tomentose myc.

This picture is from a post from user "Johnny Springfield" and is a good example of some tomentose mycelium.

Awesome, thanks alot! Yeah, I went ahead and left the others to colonize. They are looking great today. I PC'd 6 more half pints this morning and will be knocking them up tonight with Mexicube. Thanks again for the feedback! I'll keep you posted on the jars progress soon

Hahah, I also find my self royally stoned at times hypnotized by the surprised panda. The one to the right eating is like, "Pull yourself together man!!"

Here are some of the jars as of today, the mexicube is a pretty fast colonizer I must say. That first pic is the first photo posted a couple days ago. I have 6 more jars I knocked up last night that i'll update on also, same strain.

Remember to us 1CC per jar. Looks a little wet, but should be good.

My apologies if I aided in you throwing out a jar that was doing fine. I thought the "splotches" of white along side it looking wet was a big sign of contamination.

My bad, good luck

It was defiantly mycelium, my jars are doing the same. Just clusters of individual colonies that are forming from the syringe.
