size of inoculated jars ?

instead of inoculating 5 250ml jars with 1 spore syringe i inoculated 1 500ml with one strain/spore syringe dividing the whole syringe up between each hole. So about 25% of the syringe into each inoculation hole. I did this with 3 500ml jars, using 1 whole spore syringe on each of the 3 jars. Each syringe contained a different strain. So i have 3 500ml inoculated jars with 3 different strains. All 3 seem to be colonizing fine after 10 days. 1 jar only has a small patch of colonization and another is almost fully colonized. So obviously colonizing at different rates. Since the jars are larger will it take more time to colonize the entire jar ? and will the entire cake come out ok ? and will the 1 cake be sufficient for the terrarium ? can i put all 3 strains into the same terrarium ? or can i slice up 1 cake into 3 and place them into 1 terrarium ?

Preferably you shouldnt use 500ml jars because colonization will stall out once it starts reaching the bottom and since its such a large area for mycelium to cover, but you used a whole syringe on one jar so i dont know how that will turn out and yes you can put all three strains in the same terrarium.I would not cut your cakes.

Wow! Talk about putting all your eggs in one basket.
Yes, they will take longer to colonize. They may stall.
I've never seen 500ml jars that were tapered or straight. The only ones I've ever seen have a shoulder that prevents you from getting the cake out whole.
But, yes you can put the different cakes in the same SGFC
In the future, you may be better off asking questions before you start. I think you wasted a lot of spores.

500 ml is roughly a pint. I have some that are wide mouth but speaking from experience they are terrible for cakes as gravity will pull moisture to the bottom of the jar and makr that portion if the jar hard for the myc to colonize. I imagine that using waaay to much solution will exacerbate this and further impede colonization. We also advocate using less solution because syringes are rarely 100% clean so less solution per jar ensures that you will keep contams to a minimum.
I hope you get lucky but I recommend starting a new grow and follow proper procedure. A syringe should be able to do 12-24 jars with ease.

The jars are wide mouthed like they have no curve at the top its just straight so no obstructions there. I was thinking about inoculating 4-5 250ml jars with 1 spore syringe of koh samui just as a back up. But i want to know the chances of this current batch working ? It's anyones guess though eh ?

No one can say. They might all fail, they might all make it. No matter the outcome one thing is certain, they are going to take a long time. I suggest you do the 4 koh samui but just use 1/2 cc per jar (per jar not per hole). Any more is a waste and increases the risk of contam.

am i risking getting the green tree mold shit ? if so then maybe it would be not worth it because i could potentially infect the next batch ? i'm definitely starting a new batch. i just don't know if i should totally ditch this batch or not.

Just keep em but don't be surprised if they don't make it. As for trich it probably won't green up on you until you birth em anyway. Start some new cakes and do em right tho just in case.

hey i was wondering if it would be ok if you used half of a 500ml jar and left the top half of the jar empty ? what would happen there ? just wondering. and if u inoculate more jars with less spore like a few drops in say 20 jars would that increase your chances of success ?
