Is my whole yield of sclerotia destroyed?

Oh, the suspense!
I recently harvested my hefty ATL #3 reserve after a 6-month incubation period.
The yield was nice and the stones were looking great.
I placed it all to dry in direct sun with a fan pointed right at the stones for a couple of days, after which the stones were nice and dry.
I had to wait another day before putting the stones in a box with a desiccant (as I had another bunch drying away in there) so I've put the stones in a plastic box and stored it in a kitchen drawer for a day.
To my horror I discovered that within a day, the stones were all covered in icky greyish - blueish mold (not the fuzz that you may get when storing fresh sclerotia in the fridge) and that it all smelled funny.
I was terrified that all is lost so I just put it all in my desiccant box (which has an internal fan as well) in hopes that the extra dry conditions will ultimately kill the mold.
So do you think that my precious stones are lost? Can extreme dryness kill the mold? Will it be dangerous to eat any of it regardless of the results?

I know exactly the mold u are talking about, after u dry them it will still show on the sclerotia. I have a room mate who gets a bit of my harvest for letting me grow here and refuses to properly store anything and always gets this. He's eaten them after drying with the mold on em and says he barely tripped but didn't get sick or anything either. If it were me I'd toss em. That sucks man, you have my condolences.

:/
So basically it's OK to eat some mold, but the potency of the stones is reduced?
Did anyone else experience this?

The biggest risk would b if someone had an allergy or a compromised immune system and didnt know it, they could get pretty ill. It's not worth risking it, especially when the potency is destroyed anyway

that really blows man! You should invest in one of these cheap dehydrators

I use one it works great, good luck!

I actually built one, using a computer fan and some desiccant. It works great however the mold problem happened just before I've put the stones in the box.
What if I pressure-cook the moldy stones in order to kill the mold, would it render the stones inactive?

I think u will end up getting a new mold in its place pretty quickly cuz they will come out mushy and wet. Also probably will destroy actives but I'm not sure on that one

Maybe extract the actives with high proof liquor?

Interesting!
Do you have a working Tek for such extraction?

Under the circumstances I doubt what you're seeing is mold. The change in appearance is probably the result of bacteria.

I doubt it. Bacteria usually makes things all wet and gooey, doesn't it? In this case it was blue-grey mold. I managed to reduce it slightly by placing the stones into my desiccant box, but it didn't disappear completely.

Extraction
Thanks! Have you tried this one yourself? I saw that there are many extraction Teks so it's hard to know which one's really working.

I haven't done this myself, but have spoken to someone who has and they said it worked without a noticeable loss in potency. The only issues are the fact that the trip will be faster, more intense, but shorter lived, and it's easy to make a mistake in dosage since u are working with concentrates. Always start with a low initial dose then work your way up to your desired dose. A medicine syringe, the ones with no needle, for children should work well for measuring dosage.

Not necessarily on the surface. You would smell them though.

A blue grey mold?
I would eat it if you put it in a dehydrator on the highest setting. That will cook it out with hot dry out. 160 F would be preferable.

I ate about 5g of the dried stones, it was disgusting (as stones are for me) but I didn't get sick. It had however a very weak effect.
I will probably try to extract whatever Psilocybin left in there.

It seems it is the same as what my room mate dealt with by your description. He said when he had that happen he would nearly double his dose to get the desired effect. Still, even tho neither of u guys got sick it can't be good to eat that stuff. I'd def either try to extract the actives or just pitch em. That sucks man, sorry to hear about this
