One Gap Won't Close

First time trying to grow mycelium. This jar has been going for 7 weeks, but this last gap just won't close. It might be moving at 1/10th of a mm per day. I assume because room temp here is 20 Celsius, a bit below the optimum, that colonisation has taken extra time. What happens if the mycelium just won't fully colonize?

Here's the other side;

That is some cling rap over the top to keep contaminants out. I read that there is usually enough oxygen in a pf tek jar that you don't need to be concerned with gas exchange. Won't CO2 be at the bottom anyway?

No dude! you need some fae for proper mycelium growth. The verm layer over the top keeps it safe from contams, thats all you need! By putting that wrap on you severely stunted your cakes and they will probably not consolidate fully Take that shit off ASAP andkeep them in 70-80F temp. Good luck!

Well i don't think you guys are doing the same acid we did in the 70's. I only did it once. IT was called windowpaine. I was on the ride of my life for 16 hours seeing colors and everything else. I would never do it again. It scared the shit out of me. However today i see guys talking about doing 2 hoffmans. You would never do 2 hits of the acid in the 70's you would flip seriously out. Probably fry yourself for life. LSD25

They had aluminium foil over the top, the cling wrap was only added a few days ago because the foil was getting tatty. Removed the cling wrap now, so we will see what happens. Opened the lid on one - there was a faint mushroomy smell.

This gap is now closed, but there are still unconsumed bits at the top, which I guess are part of the dry vermiculite layer, and there's a little cavity at the bottom. Can't decide whether to birth this or wait longer. There's a pic of the other side as well. Some puffy little clouds forming, but no pinning that I can see, pulling away from the glass in few spots, some yellow metabolites forming. Birth or leave for a whole longer?

No. You should wait until full colonization plus one week before you birth any cake.

that's what's wrong then, your dry verm barrier came pre-disturbed
and you said something about grains in a comment and it really looks like a grain kernel or 2 in the first of the latest pics you posted.

What does pre-disturbed even mean?
I don't think there are any whole grains in there. It looks like verm and brf to me.
I agree that you should wait until fully colonized plus one week before birthing.

It could have been shaken around in shipping, mixing the dry layer into the wet, but I had to buy jars anyway, so I got some pre-made. Will prep the BRFV myself next time. I know what you mean, it does look like a seed husk, perhaps a rice husk? Maybe they used organic rice with husks still mixed in? Maybe that's why it is taking so long? First grow so I've never seen what the correct stuff looks like up close, only from the pics I've seen here, which often aren't that detailed. I assumed these guys would have the right mixture. It is getting there slowly, so I'll just have to wait another week.
