newbie millet question
    #2053760 - 10/29/03 03:42 PM (13 years, 7 months ago)

Ok..so being that i like to experiment..im all about doing some millet..trying to find out what all the hype is about...everyone says its so much better then just regular BRF..so i put 2 cups of millet into my pint jar..added a 1 and a 1/3 cup water into the jar...and cooked for 1.5 hours...the top kernels looked dry ,..so i shake the jar to re distribute the water that is still inside the jar...but after doing some research..it looks like i really have to boil and drain my millet before i can cook it right? like boil it for 30 minutes..drain..and then just put in the jar...to me i think that would cause the millet to explode with in the jar..but when i turn one of my jars sideways...some brown water came out of a innoc point from on top of the jar..so i am now geusing..that dirty water is from the endospores being released in the cooker..being kept inside the jar...so should i pitch those jars...and start over ..or save em..at the time..i didnt have a lot of time to cook..i didnt realize about the endospores...well let me know whats up..this is really fun for me..later

how did you fit 2 cups of millet and 1 & 1/3 cups of water in a pint jar?

its possible. here is a pic

just seems like there is too much water. well make that too much of everthing in the jar. does the millet expand up to the top of the jar after being PCd?
is it shakable, i mean really shakable.

ok..now i am messed up..maybe i put 2 and 1/3rd cup of millet in..and then a cup of water..im not even sure now...i was bent off some drinkage while doing this..but basically...the jars were almost filled with millet..and i added enough water that saturated the millet and left enough space for me a (PF LIKE CAKE) where you add the verm to filter your cakes..except i did not add any verm..i just cooked the cakes with straight millet and water...will these work
