I usually pick them before the veil cracks open because it ensures maximum potency and plus I've heard the spores is what makes them tAste gross. Teh only time I allow them open up is for printing purposes, and in that case I monitor the veil every hour or so.
Nice flush , you can pick them at any time you please.

You should pick all of them (even the little ones) when the first mushroom starts to open, even before the veil breaks.

different substrates may vary but usually if your substrate is fairly solid it can withstand a dunk. im on the fence about the CVG substrates as I don't know how well they hold together until about a week from now.
but most subs consolidate enough to withstand decent abuse. there are many ways to do it, but i usually keep the substrate inside the tub and just pour off the water afterwards.

I dunk CVG all the time as long as its not contaminated it should hold together just fine. Pick them as the veils tear and let the smaller ones keep growing.

good info. the reason i said it was because ive seen some people say not to dunk it because it decimates. i didn't think that would be the case but i have about 4 tubs of CVG on the way to test it out. im also going to hose it down with a sink spray nozzle on the substrate surface as well.
how long are you dunking it?

i used to do the soak for 4 hours. but with my first flushes now ill do them overnight. usually late at night and then dump off the water early monrning. when i get later flushes, i lower my dunk times by about half.

Oh thanks yall.. I will dunk for 4 hrs .. I also let the little ones grow a little bit.. this was a little experiment I was doing:
I used: 1 pint wbs spawn 1/4 of a brick coir 1 1/2 pints of verm 2 pints water 2 pinches of gymsum
I used a 21qt tub; the substrate came out to an 1" thick it colonizied in 10 days. Thirteen days after being put in fruiting conditions they were ready to be picking today. I open 3 times when in fruiting. I also misted twice very lightly..
