Ok so after some thought my question, is it bacteria that's stopping the myc from growing or is the white stuff bacteria itself?

Do I need to wait till it's %100 or do it now? I found an outdoor tek with Hpoo straw and water so do I crumble cake or do the 24 cold dunk?

It's contaminated...toss it now....it might not ever get to 100%.....no crumble, no dunk, just toss.

Is there anyone who can explain a bit more of what happened? The simple fact it was contaminated doesn't help me learn anything from it? Just toss it out doesn't teach me anything either... I turned to the forum because I don't know anyone personally eho studies mycology. Should I even try to reuse these tall 1/2 pints? I found a case of the short fattys that are recommended but I assumed the self healing noc point and filter would make it fool proof for me... I remember bending my needle trying to evenly disperse with only one hole that isn't even dead center it's offset so it's extremely difficult to get the back of the jar!

you don't need to evenly disperse, I've only ever used tall half pints and never had a problem other people have only had problems, I suspect it's somewhat skill based too. You'll learn when you see good jars practice = learning.

Ok so I cut the cake in half and put it into a 2 liter shotgun style... 2" of perlite on the bottom fan and mist 4 times a day. Today I decided to pick the cake up and clean some verm that got in my perlite and this is what the bottom of the cake looks like? Is it gonna continue to colonize and possibly pin?

It's possible. It may also just start growing contamination on the uncolonized substrate, which is likely.

This is the bottom of the cake and it's on tin foil. It was completely bare about 3 days ago and has grown that much? I'm noob deluxe and just trying to salvage this lil fucker as a learning experiment. I would like to get at least one cap so I can pull a print off of it, get a case of the short 1/2 pint jars and start all over!

why did you attack your mycel cake with a knife?
why did you fruit it before it was 100% done?
it doesnt look healthy to me..

I did this as an experiment... To see what it would do! I understand it wasn't what's recommended but a lot of great research came that way. As I previously stated I ordered these jars and they came with a filter. IMPORTANT UPDATE: As I previously stated I pre ordered these jars and they came with a filter. I assumed these would work we'll and they had been tested to ensure proper air exchange... I feel as tho they don't do the job. Part of another experiment consisted with me cleaning sterilizing and removing that filter and replacing with some med grade micro spore tape. I did it to the 2 jars I (accidentally) hit with about 5cc each. They showed zero signs of colonization last night, and today one is getting white stuff! Would FAE stop a jar from colonizing? It seems my half cut cake started to try and re colonize the sub pretty we'll after being introduced to the fresh air? Any thoughts pls

Ahhh, the "great research" AKA finding out for yourself that you should have followed directions the first time rather than repeating the mistakes of others already done.

It's half a cake dipshit? It's also just a last ditch effort to get a nice print so yeah all I need is ONE CAP... It's also the very first cap I've ever produced MYSELF!  What kinda bullshit group of guys is this?  Show some support for the new guy even if he chooses to try something different.
