Probably a very simple question:
    #2053050 - 10/29/03 08:46 AM (13 years, 3 months ago)

I am doing the Birthday Cake method where I leave the cakes in the jars until they have litte brown squiggles in them then birth them.. Using this method, how long after exposing the jars to light does it take to see this growth?

Hope tis question doesnt confuse you guys.. Im not the most organized person.

Thanks a lot!

er.. actually that doesnt really answer your question... in my experience with cakes it has taken anywhere from 1&1/2 weeks to a month to see pins after birthing. as for pinning inside the jar -if thats what u mean- I have never attempted that method however i have had pins form in jars that were not even exposed to light- usually a week or two after full colonization.
im sure hippie3 has some posts on the subject with his invitro tek and all. u could do a search here. or you could visit www.mycotopia.net and search there.

The cubies can pin in the jar, but it isn't really necessary. IF you have a terrarium that has the ideal conditions (humidity, temperature, light) and the cakes are fully colonized, you can birth them into that.

Just give em a little more time, the iraqis are making great progress. And this is unorganized. Wait till they get organized.

yeah you could wait until you got pins all througout ur jar then birth thats how the original pf tek goes. i think most around here take it out once its 100% colonized cold shock\dunk then birth.

it usually takes about 2 weeks to see pins after 100% colonized.

doulble end cased about 1 week.

OK.. they started to give me a few large-ish primordia.. baby shrooms, even. Anyway, I birthed them into the 'double chambered terrarium' and upon dislodging the cakes, the three largest primordia are bluish now. I know they bruise easily, but can I eat those right now? I just did this maybe an hour ago. Before the bruise gets worse (does it) I would just as soon eat them as throw them away. They are about the size of a matchstick but a little thicker.

Thanks for any advice.
