Nice find...

It's getting harder and harder for many naysayers to deny that oil is playing a HUGE role, if not the biggest one in politics on the world stage.

This ties in to the idea that the vast majority of US citizens are behind Bush's imperialist agenda not because they really believe all that WMD/anti-terrorism bullshit, but because they think it will get them cheap petrol to put in their Hummers. They pretend to believe the propaganda because the alternative would be to admit that their committing acts of armed robbery on a global scale. But Iraq is showing us that it wont work: petrol is more expensive than its ever been; and the costs of the war has sunken us >$200,000 million deeper into debt.

This raises the question about why we have chosen this option over fair trade and conservation. My opinion on that is that the US war machine is the product of generations of hard labour which would otherwise be wasted; that and the vindictive nature of the "ruling class", which is partially justified in terms of having paid $$$ and not received adequate labour services in return.
