Computer speakers were really choppy, restarted now ok?

It's no longer a problem... but I wiped down my computer with an alcohol or anti bacterial wipe and then it was all choppy. Both my external and regular computer speaker (which is always choppy though) were really distorted. Did a simple restart and voila!

Just wondering if anyone can explain why this happened in the first place?

Ghosts. Your speakers are haunted.

Sometimes when you have your computer on too long, some programs run in the background and take up too much RAM. Faulty programs might run in the background, and keep requesting more ram even when they are not being used. They might not properly report that they already have ram being used, and so a relatively simple program might keep getting more ram allotment despite not truly using any of it. Resetting your computer resets the RAM allocation for all programs. Sound becomes choppy when your computer can't allot enough RAM to sound processing.

I might be wrong in your particular instance though.
