Marmite: the almighty!
    #2051976 - 10/28/03 11:32 PM (13 years, 10 months ago)

I have fallen for this yeasty spread some months back. At first it is awfully tangy with salt as the chaser. It is actually a bi-product of the brewing process for beer...

The jar recommends at be spread LIGHTLY on some toast; and that it goes well with cottage cheese and some Marmite, also on toast. As a snack.

I tend to spread it on rice cakes or with some crackers. The cottage cheese recommendation also goes great on yeasty and crusty breads as well.

Marmite also is chock full of B-vitamans which release ENERGY in cells and promotes something..blah blah

I used to hate Marmite but I love it now (the ad campaigns in the UK always play off this love/hate thing people have with it).

Try a peanut butter and marmite sandwich sometime, it's a great combination.

--------------------
The above is an extract from my fictional novel, "The random postings of Edame".

In the beginning was the word. And man could not handle the word, and the hearing of the word, and he asked God to take away his ears so that he might live in peace without having to hear words which might upset his equinamity or corrupt the unblemished purity of his conscience.

And God, hearing this desperate plea from His creation, wrinkled His mighty brow for a moment and then leaned down toward man, beckoning that he should come close so as to hear all that was about to be revealed to him.

"Fuck you," He whispered, and frowned upon the pathetic supplicant before retreating to His heavens.

Speaking of peanut butter, has anybody made their own?
I keep meaning to. I think this afternoon I will go and buy some raw peanuts, roast them and grind them up with a bit of oil. Should be damn tasty

Just a different brand of yeast extract spread. Some people can tell the difference, I can't. Probably because I never eat marmite and only eat vegemite about twice a year.

It goes damn good with a bunch of cornflour and a really good mock- french onion soup.

Just dont use a lot of salt, as the Marmite provides ample amounts of it.
