Habitat: at the base of a hardwood (Oak?) with moss also at base. big cluster (20+ specimens)
Gills: off white - tan - light brownish, free, crowded.
Stem: 5.5 cm, laterally fibrillose w/ "lines" twisting up the stem.
Cap: 5 cm diameter, off-white getting darker to the edges, almost with a ring ( like pan. cinctulus) but not as dark or apparent, absent in the older specimens.
Spore print color: light brown - tannish.
Bruising: no apparent bruising
possibly a Collybria or Pluteus? Gymnopilus?

Agrocybe? The agrocybe I found this spring (something close to a. putaminum) had the same sort of gill color and stipe texture, but I believe the gills were attached...

I reckon it is a Psathyrella. Let the spores print longer.

Don't most Psathyrella have brittle or hollow stems?

of the Psathyrella genus it most resembles Psathyrella spadiceogrisea but it lacks any partial veil remnants, and has a much more "hardy" flesh. plus the stem was not hollow nor brittle. if it helps the cluster has been there for nearly two weeks and is very slow growing. some of the mushrooms are growing out of wood mulch about a foot away from the tree.they smell very mushroomy.
