Question for NFLD Hunters
    #2050715 - 10/28/03 03:55 PM (13 years, 1 month ago)

Hey guys, i'm just curious as to what you look for when trying to find a new patch. I'm going to go out on my first hunt this weekend and I'd like to narrow my search down to a few typical areas.

Out here in Corner Brook we have tons and tons of wilderness, so I'd like to be able to narrow my search down to say openings in forests with tall grass.

This is, of course, provided you can actually stereotype the growing areas of our most common species (pan subs and semis someone said.)

Thanks for the help!

i became interested in mushrooms some time last summer. when the fall came i always kept my eyes open for shrooms wherever i went, and still do, but it wasn't until a couple of days ago that i found any. some friends and i went to a series of fields that used to be used as farmland. we picked 225 shrooms in a couple of hours, no problem. so, i would suggest finding similar areas. more shrooms seemed to grow in the longer grasses (somewhere around 10 inches in length).

i've never found a pan sub.

good luck! if you want to see some of the types of liberty caps i picked you can check out the thread i started somewhere below.
