...is what my dog's friend's owner said to me today. 7 jars, brf and verm, innoculated with Eq on Sept 24th. Birthed one cake early on Oct 12th due to slight contam area. Anyways, dunked that cake, crumbled it and mixed with verm in casing tray. Let mycellium colonize for 24 hours, then added 1/2 inch layer of 50/50 verm, humus/coir. mixture. Incubated the casing dish for 5 days, at 83 degrees. Put case into terrarium with an ultasonic fogger at 76 degrees. Perlite base in terrarium. 80-90% constant humidity. After 9 days in the terrarium saw first pins tonight! Heads are tiny but there are large numbers of them. Counted over 35 reconizable pin growths. I'm very excited!! Check out the pics:

Yes, it's called an Ultrasonic Fogger made by Exo Terra. I took that particular one out of my lizards terrarium when it started to spurt less fog. (I don't need much for this tupperwear container). It provides a constant flow of humidity. The only problem is the water level sensor corrodes along with the "membrane" that instantly heats the water through a chemical reaction that occurs within the fogger. If you buy one you can count on buying a new one after three to five months of constant submersion. I've bought 3 so far (at $50 a pop!). Apparently you can keep the life of the fogger by running it in vinegar bi-monthly and replacing the corroded membranes, however, the pet store I buy these foggers from don't stock the replacements. One thing to note is a new fogger is too powerful for this purpose, and unless restricted or timed at short intervals, there will be too much fog produced for mushrooms to grow which could drown cakes/casing and damage the precious mycellium One way around this is submerging it in a deeper body of water or letting it rust out a bit before first use. I've seen these (and different variations) in garden stores, online, and in pet stores.

I haven't actually ordered membranes from any place over the internet, I've only requested that my local pet store try and order replaements. I'm sure a general search on google would turn up a few links.
Thanks
