Trip (to the coast) Report
    #2049344 - 10/28/03 12:06 AM (20 years, 3 months ago)

This past weekend I took a short break from the doldrums of life in Yakima to go to the Washington & Oregon coast with my family, and I thought I'd report on my findings for any who are interested.

First stop was Astoria, where I stayed for the night. Next day we drove over to the coast in Oregon and did some hunting for Amanitas. I ended up with about 15 pounds of A. Muscaria. After filling my trunk with Amanitas we travelled north back to Washington in the area of Long Beach and I spent a few hours looking around for Azurescens. It was a bit dry and warm so I didn't expect to find much, but I did come away with 33 small to medium specimens, which made for a pleasant low level trip. I think with a bit more rain and the dropping temps we should see quite an explosion of Azures within a couple of weeks.

After Long Beach we travelled north to Belfair to go to an antique auction and then I took some time to look around Seattle and areas north for Cyanescens, but had absolutely no luck. To this day I have still not found a single Cyan ;-( I think I'm going to boycott the Puget Sound.

Like a fiend in a cloud
With howling woe,
After night I do croud
And with night will go;
I turn my back to the east,
From whence comforts have increas'd;
For light doth seize my brain
With frantic pain.
