they are gyms and you already know that. you're not getting any answers because there is no way for anyone to say for sure what gym they are without microscopy.

if that sounded mean, I didn't intend for it to, there's just a bunch of different orange gyms and it could be almost any of them.

This is an undescribed Midwestern species that is similar to liquiritiae. If you want to send them to me at the Field Museum of Natural History, I will scope them for you.

I don't think there are any known toxic/poisonous gymnopilus, but please wait for someone smarter than me to confirm that... and I'm not advocating eating non-100% identified mushrooms but....

Gyms are so weak you have to do like 7 grams at least to feel anything, so hold your horses.

I've done 15 grams of gyms and it was a very mild trip compared to 2.5 of cubensis. Could just be the specimens I had, though, activity is certainly extremely variable.

don't count this as bad news. You sought out a habitat in which a species grows and you found that species. THAT is a success.

Take what you learned and move on. Well done sir!

If you're interest in actives, PM me, I have some spore prints that would be elucidating under the microscope.

Op can find psychoactive mushrooms in his area if he puts his heart into it.
