PLZ HELP ITS AN EASY QUESTION 2 ANSWER

Hey im kinda knew at this and im going to be using straw as a substrate and i ahve a jar filled with mycellium on corn cornals, and im told to put 1/2inch vermiculite on teh bottom of my mycollium and then a layer of hey and then the corn spaced out an a layer of hey ....etc and then i wonder do i seal it after that and wait for 3 days to put the casing layer on OR DO U PUT THE CASING LAYER ON RIGHT AWAY? i have been reading everywhere and i can find this simple step sum1 plz help, thank u, (these are p. cubensis)

I think I get the gist of your question. All of that is covered in one tek or the other but you can layer your straw and colonized corn. Cover and wait till the the straw is colonized and then uncover and case and cover back up for a while and wait till the casing is nearly colonized then initiate pinning. That would work. Pasteurize or sterilize (at least)straw before spawning with corn,otherwise it will probably contaminate.

i agree with bonsai - and i like to see that it's all coming along as it should. 2 things though - use straw instead of hay, and don't take our advice as the only way to do it. you can if you like add the casing layer right at the start. remember to be generous with the spawn, especially at the very top and bottom.
