well what is it? i'm worried now ive done some searches but i cant find what it is..its a growkit so its not seperate cakes, theres only one i was hopeing it was some sort of strange mycelium bruising because the condensation on the roof of the terrarium(sp?) has dripped on mycelium thats been on the surface and i read something about if that happens the mycelium will go solid, could it of been bruised then went soild? or is this just wishfull thinking, it had got to the pinning stage, it had slow growth because of heating problems(couldnt keep it constant) but it had matured well passed colonizing the kit and i have read places that after the mycelium has colonized it has an immune system to fight off contams.
there is limited information on growkits but is there any differences to how the mushrooms grow because reading instructions using cakes there seems to be a lot more "fine tuning" involved, e.g. instructions using cakes say you should keep a constant temperature in the mid 70's F but growkit instructions say placeing it near a radiator would be ok
thanks

i would if i could, i dont have a digital camera, webcam or scanner i've got my doubts that its a contam because ive done alot of searches and i cant find any reference or information to this type of thing im looking for pictures of overlays because this is happening to the clearly visible surfaced mycelium

ok well after reading many posts about overlay, then its deffinatly happend to "mild" overlay because its mycelium thats been effected not the substrate/casing doesnt that rule out a contam coz that wants the food and will kill the mycelium? this if it is a contam then its feeding off the mycelium

As for now, don't be so worried. Have you been handling or messing with the bag ? If so, what you have is most probably bruised mycelium, which turns blue and sometimes dark blue. Watch the spots for 3 or 4 days and report back if they grow. Good luck !

blue sounds like water to me I once got a few drops of hot water on a cake and I had the same exact thing(or at least so it sounds) shiny and blue are my two key points here
