Differences with growkits and making it yourself
    #2047008 - 10/27/03 12:09 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

Are there any differences to how the mycellium grows?

I ask this because when you buy a growkit it comes with some pretty simple instructions e.g. place it in a terrarium with 1.5" of water and leave it near a radiator(sp?) and out of direct sunlight but not in the dark, a week later your picking your first flush. i personally know people who have used kits but know nothing about mushrooms followed the instructions and get very good flushes!

looking over this forum and FAQ's etc its all centerd around making everything yourself, when you put the mushrooms into fruit they seem to need alot of fine tuning with temperature, give them 12 hours lighting, humidity, condensation, fanning (instead of just holes in the lid) etc etc

Do growkits have something different? like is there a special breed of cubensis that will fruit without problems under bad conditions? or is there no difference its just about not scaring off the customers with the cash with lengthy instructions?

Thanks

There is no difference. What they do with the kits is they colonize and case for you. The only thing is when they case they leave the casing layer dry. You get the kit add a little water and put in a chamber or a grow bag and boom, your harvesting in a week or two.
