    #2044630 - 10/26/03 02:24 PM (13 years, 8 months ago)

could someone describe in detail about how to remove the cakes from the jar. which end do they sit on in the terrarium, the end that was the bottome of the jar or the end next to the lid? and shoulld the cakes sit on the canning lids, with or without the ring or should they just sit directly on the lava rocks?

If you go to the homepage and click on the Basic Cultivation tab, you will find all you need to know. Dunk & roll is simple: Dunk in water(preferrably cold shicking at the same time) and roll in vermiculite, put it in your terrarium. Read, read, read, you will find the answers.

Turn the jars upside down and BANG them on the counter, that will loosen them and let them slide right out. End doesn't matter, if you dunk and roll (read above post, and it's definaty recommended). You can sitthem on the lid, minus the ring, i fyou want, or directly on the lava rocks.

I have some cakes on tin foil in a shotgun fc.. is tin foil ok ? And my jars were tall half pint jars .. and I banged the counter they loosened but I had not a single cake come out easy... the jars dont have a lip... but still seemed like bottom was thicker or something shit was rediculous.. almosy all cakes got bruised pretty bad but they seem to be healing up in the fc. Any way I can get the other 6 cakes out of their jars easier ? I dont mind breaking the jars.. I feel the short jars will be easier next time

11.5 year old thread bro :tongue2:

Tin foil is ok, many people use it.  Bang those jars - my half pints were in tapered jars so I had to go at it with a butter knife too.  Those cakes can take a nice beating and still produce...

Hmmm...is your SGFC built properly?  You'll also want to mist the cakes directly a few times a day (not walls/lid) and then fan right after misting.

I don't know enough to answer your question about pinning in the jar but maybe you should start a new thread and post a photo.  I'm sure others will help.

if they start pinning in the jar just birth them, rinse off any uncolonized parts and the dry verm, dunk, rinse and roll. careful with the tiny pins tho. might be better to just bury a cake in verm and pick it up again.
mist fruits and cake directly in the chamber, yes!

aaaand, make your own thread and post pics and update :super:
