poor ID request, poor pics, great expectations
    #20440283 - 08/18/14 10:40 PM (9 years, 7 months ago)

Habitat:
beech litter

Gills:
creamish

Stem:
slender but not fragile, lightly striated
Cap:
creamish

Spore print color:
Very important!  but sadly absent

Bruising:
i didn't poke at it yet

Other information:
it has a strong smell

i have to give a tip of the hat to hashfinger who inspired me to use the 20min i had free to look with a modest hope of discovery.  sadly all i could do was put em in a kleenex blanket in a plastic tub in the fridge for now, and the fridge is thirty miles away at the moment, but i just had to know.  possible caerulipis, he asks?

other info -had some rain 2 days ago but been dry since.

a few pornos for the amanita lovers.  neighbors front yard in front of the culvert.  think i ought to tell em? heh.

They really don't strike me as a Psilocybe, but I'm seeing hints of bluing in multiple photos. See if you can get them to bruise more.

I'm pretty sure I see bluing on the upper part of the stem...

Psilocybe caerulipes

Bluing on the pileus margin and on the stipe
hygrophanous cap with purple spore deposits on the stem.

The only thing that concerns me is the purpleish mycelium at the base of the large guy, seems odd.

of course better pics are needed man

thanks for the appraisal, joust.  i'm bummed i haven't made it back home yet.  the mycelium was that color as it came up, but its been dry and windy for the couple days before i found them.

got some serious rain tonight so hopefully more will pop.  i hope i can get back to inspect for more... and of course, i'll go doused in deet just so i can get a decent pic before i'm anemic.

ya, i wanted to believe that too, and they really didnt look alot like the myriad lil brown corts i'm finding all around recently.
and they had that smell that triggered a very old neuron that said 'this will taste like ass and send shivers down your spine yet you will still swallow it.'  partly, thats what had me thinking it was caerulipes.  and hashfingers post.  no doubt that influenced my frame of mind.  apparently, the stage is nicely set for self-delusion.

i did get out for an  hour dogwalk early today (elsewhere) and just found more chanterelles.  i was sooo bummed

Thats right rural! It would be awesome for some of us to all get together and hunt, also to hunt 15hrs away where they are! I went out today and all I found was a bunch of LBMS and chants past their prime. Youre bluefoot is such a great find! Its said to be a rare find. Congratulations! :mushroom2::hellyeah::highfive:

well, it may be a bit premature and all.  Joust et al. still seemed to have a few reservations,  but thanks!

i'll have to break out the ol razor blade and take a real look before i'm personally convinced enough to break out the champagne.

and i'd have to find a lot more to break out the tea
