    #2042750 - 10/25/03 06:55 PM (21 years, 2 months ago)

colonization is going great. it really sped up when I opened up the holes and flipped the jars to let c02 out. I do however see one problem arizing in all the jars. there is quite a bit of moisture inside on the jar walls. should I worry yet? what can I do to fix such a problem if it needs fixin? any help is great. thanks

I wouldn't worry. The moisture on the walls might indicate that the jars are too warm and the substrate is in fact evaporating or loosing moisture and this moisture is condensating on the walls of your jars. I wouldn't worry though. The best test or measure of pf jar moisture is the bottom of the jars. Look at the brown rice flakes/flour, is it mashed against the bottom and look really cloudy, like there is some moist brown rice flour/H2O mix pooling on the bottom or squeezed out when paked in, or is it very dry and the appearance of plain dry brown rice flakes exist along with vermiculite which looks dried out and stuck on the bottom? That will tell you. You will get used to telling the difference.
