I don't know if anyone has seen this on the Political Compass web-site, I find it quite interesting although I'm curious how they determined where each individual leans. I've also noticed Arafat is slightly higher than Sharon, and himself being slightly above Bush on the Libertarian/Authoritarian scale.

No big mystery.

In the current political climate, it is impossible for a libertarian right candidate to become the head of a country. They are by definition "anti" politicians, therefore haven't a snowball's chance in hell of succeeding in the hurly burly of the "democratic" political arena; and --since they reject the initiation of force -- they cannot out-thug the thugs active in the totalitarian arena.

I would extend that to any libertarian, not just right.

I don't agree with a lot of the Libertarian Party, but they have my respect for not taking governmental campaign contributions . I always thought that was really cool.

Yeah, you are probably correct about that.

Note there are exactly three names in the Libertarian Left quadrant, and one of them (the Dalai Lama) is not the head of a country. I don't know enough about Mandela to judge, but to call "King Jean" Chretien (PM of Canada) Libertarian (even a "left" Libertarian) is a travesty.
