No, Anno is also an accomplished Tomato grower believe it or not.
There was a whole forum dedicated to him and his tomatoes once.

Damn those look like some nice tomatoes. Years ago my mum tried growing some but they never really ripened properly.

This year I had 19 strains growing. The season is over now though, since the first night frosts are setting in.

Awesome. I love that last pic. In 2 weeks is the traditional date for planting tomatoes outside here (no more frosts) I've got 6 russian reds (medium sized, tasty, ordinary), 1 evergreen (green even when ripe), 1 cherokee purple (dark) and 4 tomatillos Anybody tried growing or even eating tomatillos? I have never come across them before.

I did but only one season. The taste is disappointing compared with tomatoes.
You should try Cape Gooseberry , Physalis peruviana. http://www.hort.purdue.edu/newcrop/morton/cape_gooseberry.html http://www.tradewindsfruit.com/cape_gooseberry.htm

I've eaten and grown Tomatilloes before. They taste sorta like apples believe it or not, very tart apples. They're wonderful for salsas. I was experimenting with growth parameters, trellis'd, "scrogged," staked, and wire cages. They grow hapzardly and everywhere when they're allowed to roam free, which isn't terribly detrimental because they have this outer papery covering on them that sorta protects them when they're on the ground.

a dozen tomatillos 1 avocado 2 jalapenos 1/2 cup of cilantro
puree in food processor
it's like green gold.
I picked these early girls this morning:
a little update....I was over watering.
I'm now only watering once weekly, an all day long slow soak.
I've got a couple vines I'm thinking of leading onto my apple tree since they've outgrown their cages and stakes.
