New Hennessy Hammock

I've been doing a lot of camping lately, and the g/f and I wanted to get a couple of hammocks to use, instead of a tent.
I just bought us both a Hennessy. I got her the Scout Zip, and I got myself the Expedition Asym Zip. I've not gotten to use them for camping yet, but they seem pretty damn bad ass. Anyone else have experience with this brand of hammock? They both came with a bug net, rain fly, and straps.

Yep, I have a Hennessy Explorer Ultralight.. fucking love it
I've been recommending these hammocks to people for years
If you really use it a lot, I'd recommend upgrading the tarp to their extended sil-nylon rainfly.. more coverage than the one that comes with it and lighter too.
Things are bad fucking ass. Once you sleep in it in the wilderness you'll wonder how you can ever sleep on the cold ass bumpy ground in a tent again. If you have back problems, you'll wake up feeling amazing in these things. It relieves all your pressure points and distributes your weight evenly.. no waking up with sore muscles and aching back ever.
People just don't know the awesomeness of hennessy hammocks.
Only con with a hammock is that you have free air moving under you - so if you are camping in colder temps - you NEED some kind of insulation under you or you will freeze your ass off. General rule of thumb is that its gonna be about 15 degrees cooler in the hammock than the actual air.
There are different methods for insulation, the cheapest (and least comfortable) being a closed cell foam pad inside the hammock with you... that will provide a nice barrier for wind and cold, but kind of ruins the comfort level of the hammock a bit. The more expensive version is something called an underquilt, like these - which is basically a down sleeping bag that has been treated with water resistant material, that you attach to the underside of the hammock, provides a nice cushion of air and insulation and makes it like a cocoon. But you'll pay about as much for a good underquilt as the hammock costs. Some people make their own. But with an underquilt, you can camp in freezing temps no problem.
Also I recommend a synthetic sleeping bag for sleeping in a hammock. With a down sleeping bag, the side your weight is on will have almost no insulation since it compresses it to nothing. Not an issue when sleeping in a tent, but becomes an issue in a hammock where you have free air moving under you.
Just something to be aware of. Hammocks sleep colder than on the ground.. if you plan on camping in cooler temps - plan for some insulation under you!!
Other than that... fucking enjoy! You will never sleep better in the outdoors, I guarantee it.

Are you a back sleeper? Is it possible/comfortable to sleep on your side or roll endlessly from right side to back to left side (insomnia sucks )

I've been reading a lot about them before finally pulling the trigger. I couldn't justify buying an ENO and paying more for the rain fly than the hammock. Also, a couple of friends have ENOs, and I personally don't like them that much for sleeping. They are ok to lay around in, but they aren't very comfortable long term.
I can't wait to sleep in this bad boy. The girlfriend is extremely excited about her's, also. The scout is perfect size for her.
Oh, I've also read you can set these up on the ground if you have to (no trees around or something). You can sleep in them like a tent if need be.

YES. You can sleep on your back, on your side SUPER comfortably. If you toss and turn in a tent, you sleep like a baby in a hammock. Also you lay on the horizontal, so you can get COMPLETELY flat in the hammock, or have a traditional curve depending on how you shift your body..they are cut/designed in such a way to facilitate that.

Yeah I'm not really a fan of the ENOs either. I love the Hennessy so much, the catenary cut and the design just makes it so comfortable for both sleeping and lounging around.
Yep you can set them up on the ground too, as long as you have at least one side to attach to. Nothing better than stringing up between two trees though.
