from what i've heard, its best to allow the cake to colonize fully, then give it a few more days to build a more solid network. the advantage to this is that if there is even the slightest risk of contamination at any point after birth, the network will be just that much stronger and be able to overcome any other bacteria.

It depends on the strain. The PFMR strain should be left in the jar until you see primordia. This will increase fruiting. Other strains don't pin in the jar so it all depends....

Many strains will pin in the jar, keep a close eye. Take the jars out of the warm terrrrium when fully colonized and let sit at room temp. As soon as you seen pinheads, birth. If you don't see any pinheads after a week of the cake being fully colonized, birth!

Some guy I don't know is growing the Golden Teacher and the jar has been fully cultivated for atleast a week or more, should they birth it?
