Shit I will change my technique then, thanks for clarifying man . I was thinking on my last 'noc I was doing it backwards, but was too lazy to look it up.. I tend to be a little dyslectic

ok no airpump, as for the Jars I don't see any contamination so I call my sterilization a win for a dirty fuckin bathroom.
Also Ill post some pics

My jars, SAB, air pump idea... and a whole bunch of straw waiting
which reminds me, I'm planning on using the rye in picture 1 for a straw basket/monotub, I do not plan on using nothing else except straw (input please) Also I do not have any hydrated lime, I have heard you can use bleach as a substitute (input)

As the day goes on my head starts running off ideas and I get my self so worked up about how I'm going to proceed after my jars are fully colonized, I know I am going to use most of them as they are (cakes) but I'm thinking I want to use one for some more rye Jars, and If possible I want to break one up and use in a monotub. I have been reading substrates and I don't think I have my head entirely wrapped around all of the possible substrates and why they are used. If someone could help me out\ with my monotub I would appreciate it. Right now I have cut up straw, vermiculite, BRF, Rye berries, Gypsum and some unknown birdseed out in the garage. Also some horse poo is a possibility from a friend, and unlimited worm casting from a business. Dealing with these circumstances what would you do for a monotub substrate.

use coir vermiculite and gypsum as your first monotub substrate. It's the hardest to fuck up, it's the easiest to prepare, and it gives just as good results.
also Im not sure if your gloves are attached to your SAB. the gloves should not be attached.

Hey guys, been awhile since I posted, give ya an update, cakes have been in fc for 3 days 2 cakes have excelled and have been picked, and are now in the dunking process again. I have a question, on a cake I had a mushroom that was significantly bigger than the others and the veil broke about 10hrs before any others were even close. From reading i was told pick at 70% veil break, so I did. But while it took 10hrs for the others to be ready what do you do with such a small amount of mushies? throw it in the dehydrator cause that's what i did. Also for the small guys (possibly aborts) I picked them too since I didn't see any change in size, the heads did not smush nor smell funny. Was I wrong to pick them early?
waiting till tomorrow morning I plan on having another cake ready to go tomorrow

Just to give everyone an update, had a pretty good run got 30.1g from 8 cakes! I took the cakes blended them up and found a spot outside for them. I took 3 cakes broke one up and put it in a coir Verm mini mono, colonizing well. I then I took 2 blended them up and put them in another one. I also have had 2 rye jars going during this and one just now has started showing growth. That took a long f**king time.... I'll be probably getting some more cakes going just as a plan B

that's an easy way not to have a blast. adding another step into inoculation slows you down and adds a vector for contamination. LC are not faster as you may think since you're adding a step even though if you can manage to get a clean LC the jars may colonize faster if you would have just inoculated them in the first place they would have been further ahead.
