Buying/Picking magic mushrooms in Nepal ? Need info.

Hi, this year I am going to Nepal and I am looking forward to try some magic mushrooms whilst there. There is little information on the internet or I am not looking in the right places. Does anyone on here have any experience in buying shrooms in Nepal? I came across a trekking blog where one person mentioned being offered magic mushrooms in Thamel district of Kathmandu. They apparently grow in wild in Chitwan region which I also plan visiting. They supposed to be p. cubensis, this is all I know.
I am afraid that someone will sell me some deadly species instead of the real deal. I have never seen fresh or dried cubensis in real life, I only experienced p.semilanceata and magic truffles.
I would appreciate any info on this.

I am also visiting Nepal later this year and posted a similar question? Did you have success? How so?

Have you been yet?
Well I didn't have success with shrooms in Nepal, no. I did see some suspicious looking ones whilst there in Chitwan and some in Tal. But I wasn't sure what they are so I left them there.
I did have success with weed and hash instead. I was picking weed as it grew everywhere and I was getting some more for free all the time. Hash cost me 650 NRP (£4) and it was so fresh and tasty my lungs couldn't believe it.
Now I have found some info which should help you find magic mushrooms in Nepal. This quote comes from JOCHEN GARTZ - MAGIC MUSHROOMS Around the World
Monsoon Climate, Manure and Water Buffaloes In 1981, Schroeder reported the results of his mycological field work conducted in Nepal during 1978 and 1979, where his research efforts established that mushrooms of the Psilocybe species are wide-spread throughout the area. Guzman proposed that these species can quite possibly be classified as Psilocybe cubensis and Psilocybe subcubensis Guzman. Macroscopically, the latter species is very similar to the subtropical Psilocybe cubensis species, but its spores are comparatively smaller and its habitat limited to tropical regions. The mushrooms primarily grow in valley areas with monsoon climate conditions, at altitudes of about 3,000 ft. on substrates of partially decomposed cow manure as well as on water buffalo dung. While the species fruits all year round, it does so most abundantly in May and June, the rainy months that precede the monsoon season. Nepal is another country where no evidence was found of any mushroom usage by the indigenous population. Mycophilic Western visitors, however, having discovered the species, soon indulged in usage of the mushrooms for hallucinatory purposes, a practice that failed to draw much public attention. It appears that a relatively large dose was required to achieve the desired effects, since several individuals consumed forty or more of the fleshy mushrooms at a time.

Yeah, serious adventuring is what I'm after. "All inclusive" holidays don't work for me.
Sadly I didn't find any and I haven't tripped whilst I was there. I wouldn't be afraid of doing it there at all, Nepal is a safe country. I had my private trusted guide with me and I know a few people who live there.

Here are some interesting looking mushrooms I found in Tal village (alt 1700m) on the Annapurna Circuit trail. I have no idea what these mushrooms were. I have picked one for examination and then disposed of it.

They looked a bit like amanitas.

I have also found those in Chitwan. They seemed to be growing out of Rhino dung:

I kept seeing more and more of them whilst traveling on top of an elephant, so I wasn't able to reach them and examinate.
And these were growing out of Elephant dung:

I think it might be something else, the bottom half of the stem looks pretty shaggy. I could be wrong, I've just never seen that on specimens here in Cali.

awesome shots. had to laugh at Hooker's comment, i was thinking the exact same thing. either one hell of a zoom lens or he got down and up close. sweet.
thanks for the photos, you can see we all enjoy them, whether there's a mushroom in it or not. the falls with the structure next to it sure conveys a sense of age we just don't see much stateside (if at all)
did it take you long to acclimate to the altitude there?
moar shots!

Dr. Delban, you are now shroomery's officially appointed Rhino whisperer.

I actually didn't get very close to the rhino, I was riding an elephant at this point so I'm not as much of a hero. I was using a camera with 50x optical zoom. The other one which I held in my hand was in a different place, away from the rhinos.

i didn't realize there were rhinos or elephants in Nepal, not that I'd ever been asked... but cool! even if you're not dodging rhinos for fungus, there has to be some special status for going foraying on elephants.
i mean, can anyone else join that club? chime in!
i think i just put that on my bucket list. (Nepal anyway)
