Amanita Pantherina in Pnw?
    #20358854 - 08/01/14 02:12 AM (9 years, 7 months ago)

Not asking for an official ID horrible pic.  I just snapped some hurried phone pics.

I am curious if  pantherina grow in Oregon.
Also I've seen a few citrina lately tis the Amanita season.  I've heard they are best after the hottest part of the summer.

Those look very close to pantherina and yes they grow in Oregon as evidenced by this map of observations http://mushroomobserver.org/location/map_locations?q=26zNT

I found some pantherina out towards beaverton/hillsboro in early spring, I'm pretty sure I texted the pic to you HH

I thought they pretty much only grew in the spring

I always find them within about a two week period then I never see them again until the same time next year.

I got about 7 or 8 of them ground up  and homogenized waiting to be tested. Kind of scared

Yea scary.

I thought I had talked to someone about Pantherina.  But last night I was double checking and couldn't find any good info.  Found tons more today.  Also Uhurungus came with me and snagged a perfect specimen Ganoderma..

Nice to see ya posting PNW!!  We should hunt.  Friggin found where not to hunt mushrooms today.  Plenty of huckleberries though.
