Twice when I was younger, about 7 or 8, I'd be riding in the car on the freeway with my family, we'd be in standstill traffic, and I'd look over out the window and see someone standing next to our car. I'd be like, Oh, that's just a guy. Then I'd remember we were on the freeway and there was no way there was some guy standing there. Both times is was an younger businessman-type guy, probably late twenties, early 30s. One guy wore a light blue suit and had brown hair, the other a gray suit with brown hair. I'd look over and see them, look away and then back and they'd be gone. Weirdest experience.
Also, there's this awesome place, the Forest Glen Seminary (it's a girl's school, you pervs) in Silver Spring, MD. It was funtional in the early part of the 20th century, and later used for social functions, but has long since gone unused. The architecture of the place is brilliant. Everything has this horribly creepy, abandoned feel to it. You can check it out here: http://www.operant.com/seminary/main_page.html
I've been there several times at night. There are lights on in top windows and such, even though every door into the place is locked. One night a light was going nuts, and first we thoughit was a strobe, but later realized it was just on the fritz. It was scary. If you're ever in MD, I'd suggest stopping by. It's lovely during the day, and there's so much to discover about it. Peek in some windows. It will surely freak you out. I've had my fair share of "not alone" experiences there.
Enjoy!

This thread just really creeps me out....to answer some of your questions about my experience....the man's head was constantly turning towards me, not the baby. The weird part about this is my sister just had a baby when it happened....my mom thinks it was her dad whom died a while ago....maybe he wanted to see the baby.

yeah cats fuck with your head sometimes..
*Disclaimer* mine is a long post and isn't very dramatic but is a detailed account of a benign ghost we had once. The pace should bring things down a bit if you're scaring yourself reading these.....
Some of these stories really give me the creeps. I'm in a rented house right now, and reading this makes me think about how there were people a year ago living here, and they weren't me or my friends... that's kinda creepy.
Well, I've always wanted to have ghost experiences, but I never did until a time when my friend and I were renting an apartment in an old house that had been turned into a 4 apartment building. We started hearing noises in the kitchen. I noticed them but didn't think anything of it.. just brushed it off as those noises you hear sometimes that aren't worth paying attention to. When a friend who stayed the night brought it up I was like "yeah, now that you mention it, there ARE unexplained noises in the kitchen at night all the time!" He was disturbed enough to get up and investigate in the middle of the night. As soon as he stepped into the kitchen the noises stopped. He was hearing loud banging, like plates being picked up a couple inches and then dropped.
One time we were talking about this in a group, and another friend was like "Yeah, the other night when I was over I kept thinking somebody was about to walk into the room cause I kept hearing footsteps, but I didn't think anything of it at the time."
What was neat about our kitchen ghost is that he was active almost every night. If you wanted to hear him do his shit you just had to sleep outside the door to the kitchen and you'd hear him. It wasn't like "I looked away, and when I looked back the shadowy figure had... dissapeared!" you could actually do little experiments.
Friends of ours came up with all kinds of explanations of the noises. Pipes? People downstairs? House settling? But there was a wide variety of noises, they were loud, and if you wanted them to stop, all you had to do was walk into the kitchen. Why would the pipes stop.. creaking or whatever just cause you entered the room? Why would people in other apartments stop making noise? It wasn't that dramatic, but it was enough, and I have no desire to get the living shit scared outta me, really.

came across this thread and loved the stories, had to give it a bump
i had my first unexplainable experience just the other week
i was hanging out with a friend, an old art teacher of mine, doing some sculpting in his basement. out of the corner of my eye i saw a cat walking across the carpet, but when i looked, there was absolutely nothing there. i paused, staring at that spot a bit confused. i think he could tell something was up. i said, "i must be hallucinating or something because i swear i saw a cat that wasn't there when i looked." he looked at me and kind of smiled and said, "you're the first non-family member to have seen that. (my son) and I see it all the time. i think it's our first cat that died young and is still around." he explained to me that it happens so often that he will come home from work and his son (13 yrs old) will say "oh i saw kitty today" like it's no big deal.

ghosts are definitly real. energy dosent just disapear. shortly after my grandfather was murdered, i was asleep, and i was home alone, and i heard someone playing the piano in my downstairs living room. i could hear it very loud, definitly his music. i walked down to see who was playing and right as i enterd the hall to walk into the room is stopped. this is a true story.

Dude I ll die in the instant if i see an old man holding a baby in my house.
I Was around 21 years and got this job in a Cyber Cafe. That Night I had only one client left and I was doing some work in the office next door. Both the office and the computer room were connected by a door, and also both rooms had a door connecting to the hallway. And then to the main door which was locked.
I am doing my thing in my PC, when out of the sudden there is very loud knock on the door connecting to the hallway. I am very positive at the moment that the knock is coming from the dude spamming people with straps for wristwatches, anyway I opened the door and there is no one there so I go to the PC room, and he is sitting as before, across the room, all concentrated in his stuff. So I asked what the fuck he wanted, and the looks at me like WTF are you talking about?. At that moment the creepy feeling started to rise from my spine. I knew he wasnt lying but also knew that knock i heard was fucking real but nothing was there.
Next day I commented to someone that worked there and he said that something similar happened to him and someone else during a night they were working late, they heard someone sweeping the floor of the kitchen. There were no one else in the building at that time. Creepy building.

ok i got one, i was like 11 eating at a table outside this market, with my mom and my friend, and these two old people sit next to us and chat and talk, they where dressed really old clothes, but like, whatever, they were real, i never saw them sit down next to us, niether did my friend or mom, when we talked about it later, but we were talking a lot and eating so we figured they just walked up, and it seemed as though for 5 seconds we all were talking, me, my mom and my friend, not involving them, and we look back to ask them a question and they are gone, now these guys looked to be late 80's, 90's, no 90 year old could get outa sight that fast you know? it was freaky, just chills me to this day, and the memory is vivid as fuck. much love

This freaks me out to even type.
When i was at Camp Pendleton when i was in boot camp the freakiest shit happened. We were all bunked in a really old squad bay, it was connected to another next to it and connected by a hallway. I was one of 4 people on fire watch for a hour late after midnight. We started hearing this screaming and crying coming for the empty squad bay connected to ours. We thought someone was freaking out because training was getting to them, so we ran over to check it out.
When we got to the other barracks, we noticed that their was a thick layer of dust over the floor, and that there was no footprint of any kind going to the back of the squad bay where we heard this coming from. We thought that it was from outside so 2 of us went to go check. I was inside with one other recruit and we headed to the back of the squad bay to figure this thing out.
When we got towards the back of the barracks, we couldn't find where this screaming and crying was coming from, so we wend outside to check on the two recruits that went out there to check. We met up with them and they said that no one was outside, but they notice that we found the guy in the back of the barracks through the window. We didn't find anyone tho. they said that they saw us standing right in front of a guy screaming. I gotta tell you, even tho we were supposed to be training to be big bad marines, we rand screaming out of there.
We were heard and the drill instructors freaked out on us, then asked us what the hell was going on. We told them and they just said that that was just the ghost of someone who killed himself here like 20 years ago and to go back to our bunks. Usually they would find any reason to torture us, but you could see in their eyes that they believed our story and were a bit concerned as well.

I've got one, and it happened quite recently.
A close relative of mine and I hang out regularely. This person has MANY cats and lives in a pretty limited space, so there are several felines within eyesight at all times. One night after we'd finished smoking, we got into a long conversation. During a pause, I heard a strange raspy sound from near the center of the room. The closest thing I can compare it to is somebody with a deep voice whispering "RAAAAAW" for about two or three seconds.
As I was hearing this sound, one of the cats in my periperal recoiled in an odd way, flattened her ears like she was going to be hit and jumped off the chair. I looked to my relative and said "Please tell me I'm not the only one who just witnessed that." because we were facing in the same general direction. She had a clear look of alarm on her face, and told me she's glad I saw it too or else she'd have been freaked the fuck out.
Now we could both be freaked the fuck out.

When I was young I lived in a different house - I'd always whisper through the floorboards in my room and proceed to put my ear to the floor, listening to what I swore sounded like whispers in response.. No idea why I did that but when we moved away I was truly devastated it felt like I'd left a friend behind. Weird!

Me and my comrade used to work on this old building at night. For most of this story we were insulating the ceiling on the inside. The building is all brick on the outside, spans from one street to the next, and is sections off by huge doors.
Now the place was creepy enough but i don't, and still don't, believe in ghosts. So I was good to keep trying on the building but every night we would reach a limit and go home. One of the first times, we had our tools moved on us, multiple times. So when we went out for a smoke break we left a tuckpointing tool in a specific spot and when we came back it was gone. We later found it stuffed into a roll of insulation. Some other notable things lost, dust masks, knives, keys.
I've seen shit thrown out of the air in front of my face and across the room. One of my other friends allegedly had a knife thrown at him that stuck into the wall. Wasn't there but regardless, I'd believe it. One time me and my comrade took our other friend to the basement and killed the lights. We ran outside and down the block to watch when we notice a light turn on in the building, immediately after our friend is walking around the corner outside.
But Now I'll tell you about the final straw. Me and my comrade were there alone, as per most times. And it was only about 11 at the time but shit was too excited that night throwing out stuff everywhere. So we decide to call it. My comrade asks if I have the keys while he's checking his empty pockets. "They must be in the truck" so we start walking the good 50 yards to the exit when all of a sudden we hear a huge crash behind us. So we start booking it, him in front, me behind, when we hear a little smack on the wall in front of us. The keys had been thrown at us.
We start the truck no problem, and then it dies. We restart it and get going. I talk to my friend about going over to our other mates and ask him to text him but his phone is dead. So I say we should stop over there anyways to see if this ghost will latch to him. Right then I get a text from my buddy in the truck, that I've been looking right at, with a dead phone. "you can't get rid of me".
Never went back after that, the people we were working for decided to cancel the project without reason.
I enjoy ghost hunting and have only seen a handful of things otherwise. Being a skeptic as well I would say i'm not a suggestible person but that place was fucked. I'd love to go back sometime. It'll probably be a cheap destitute property before I know it. Maybe I'll turn it into apartments.

My grandma told me that ive told her that ive been seing a ghost in the tree at midnight when i was 3yrs old. Where she always caugth me standing for an hour in front of the door staring at the tree. Although i cant remember clearly those circumstances cause i was a child.
Then Ive been expiencing frequently them during my early teenage days. One experience i cant forget was seeing a lady with no face in front of the mirror in my bed after upon waking up where i litteraly cant move my body.
This did lessen to almost 0, upon learning that those are a reflection of me. And are deciever spirits which can self manupulate their forms.
