Is there really such thing as a beginning?

When looking at the law of cause and effect, it can be seen that everything in this world is the result of cause built upon cause; I have a clock in my room because it was given to me, it was given to me because it was my birthday, it was my birthday because it was the date of my birth, it was the date of my birth because I was born that day, I was born that day because my parents donated chromosomes etc etc, you get the idea. Well,if you go back far enough, you will eventually arrive at an end, or a block rather, where the is no because. It just doesn't exist, or it exists and it is impossible to be comprehended by humans. This is my question: is there really such thing as an ultimate beginning? According to the law of cause and effect, everything is the result of some subsequent cause. What about the initial cause itself? Be it the big bang, or God or whatever you want to call it, it just doesn't seem logical that there can be an ultimate beginning at all. Either that, or time is somewhat circular. Any thoughts? My mind is in a twist. This is what happens when I try to think of things that aren't meant to be thought of.

If there is an end, there must be a beginning. Otherwise, who knows?
> My mind is in a twist. This is what happens when I try to think of things that aren't meant to be thought of.
This just means that you are starting to think about things that cannot be defined by logic or reason. It isn't that you aren't meant to think about these things, but rather that you cannot think about these things in a normal dualistic state of mind.

the beginning of our universe was because of the big bang
the big bang happened because of the big crunch
the big crunch is basically a black hole which swallows up the universe the explodes spitting the universe back out
god knows how this cycle started or how its going to end but its like what came first? the universe or a big bang?

You were there?
> the big bang happened because of the big crunch
Wow, you know what happened before creation? Pretty cool.
> the big crunch is basically a black hole which swallows up the universe the explodes spitting the universe back out
So where did the big crunch come from?
> god knows how this cycle started
What cycle? The universe is expanding with acceleration. There will be no big crunch.

Unless all extreme ends of the universe meet. Just because it's infinite, doesn't mean it has no boundary. Examples: circle, ball, M?bius ring...
