Crossing the border

If one were to smuggle a box of cubans across the border from Canada to the States and it was found, would said person get arrested, or fined, or both? Someone told me that they'd only make you pay a SHITLOAD of tax per cigar or something.

No one is gonna check where your cigars are from. I had a customs guy look at my Cubans last time I came into the country. He didn't give a damn.

A few years ago, I planned to attend a massive anti-globalization demonstration in Quebec City, Canada (April 20-23 2001, if anyone remembers). Well, the border guards for Canada were under order to turn away Americans who were coming for the demonstration. We all got cleaned up, and parted our hair, and wore crosses around our necks like good little Christians. The girl who's car we were driving put a George Bush for President bumper sticker on her bumper. Our made-up reason for entering Canada was to go to attend a Church retreat.

Needless to say, we got in easily. Of course we probably overdid it, but hey, if you're going to be crossing borders for suspicious activity, doesnt hurt to look like a young, snotty Christian.

*laugh* That is clever. I don't know that I could lower myself that far, but still clever.

it probably won't be a problem. just be advised that cuban cigars aren't what they used to be and aren't at all worth the hype. get some dominicans or something.

You guys remember that guy that free fell across the English Channel with a wing on his back? Maybe this is the future of drug smuggling, a bunch of flying Squirrel-like Colombians coming in from MX.

i think you can bring 2 cases of cubans back from cuba or wherever you can get cubans. i'd not worry at all. or you can stick em up your butt if you are really paranoid.

The thing your overlooking is the ignorance of border patrols on cigars. Buy a box of legit cigars and then replace them with cubans and drive across with the box in your backseat. No cop would do shit.

play stupid. toss them in the seat and when asked about declaration say "I have nothing" if they notice the cigars be willing to surrender them and more importantly "I didnt know, they were just cigars, I never had this brand and the guy at the store suggested them"

customes dont care, I've had them shipped to my door many times with no problem.
