So these were all found on the same day around May 13. I'm ashamed to say I didn't keep any of these specimen but here it goes. Sorry for the sadly terrible pictures. If you may know any of these mushrooms based off of the pictures alone and small descriptions that would be great. Thanks in advance to those TIs. Mushroom 1: Found in leaf litter near an old, man made stream. EDIT: suspected Psathyrella

Mushroom 2: Found in sandy, woody, leafy soil. Near stream. sorry for the bad pics (Psathyrella)

Mushroom 3: Found in wood chips near stream. EDIT: Parasola

Mushroom 4: Found directly next to mushroom 3. Wood chips near stream. I see bruising but I doubt it is active. Not with my luck. EDIT: suspected Deconica

Annnd a bunch of Pan. Foenscii. Maybe one or two Cinctulus.

1 and 2 Looks like Psathyrella, 3 looks like Parasola, 4 Deconica (cool!). Why do you collect P. foenisecii?

In the off chance that a few maybe Cinctulus. But through experience I have learned how to distinguish the two. So I don't anymore. Thanks for the ID.
Regarding Deconica, are they rare? Any active properties? Thanks.

Another question to anyone interested in Deconica. If Deconica grows there, does that potentially mean a Psilocybe species such as Caerulipes or Ovoideocystidiata may also grow in its midst? (if the spores get there of coarse) Or am I just reaching for the stars?

I find a Deconica species on the edges of my ovoid patch, but I don't think it's really a good indicator.

What is this purple bruising? Is this unique to Deconica? Is it possible for a Deconica species to bruise blue?

My understanding is that the Deconica species were previously all identified as belonging to the Psilocybe genus. Then they changed the meaning of "Psilocybe" so that it now only includes the active species, i.e., those that contain psilocybin (and psilocin and baeocystin). Basically, a Deconica is a macroscopic Psilocybe that does not contain psilocybin. Deconica should not bruise blue.
Interestingly, it appears that some species of Galerina and Gymnopilus are more closely related to the Psilocybes than the Deconica are. Also, the Deconica appear to be more closely related to certain Hypholoma and Stropharia species than they are to the Psilocybes. Btw, I'm getting this from Cruz et al. (2013): http://www.nrcresearchpress.com/doi/abs/10.1139/cjb-2013-0070#.U9GHY4BdVpt. Basically, taxonomy based on macroscopic (and even microscopic) features does not always accurately reflect phylogenetic relationships as evidenced by DNA analysis.

Thanks. I'll remember that. Next time I'm keeping a collection of different species in different jars.
