You guys are going to think im crazy for this. But i was sitting there reading the mushroom cultivator last night. And i thought most of the people here on the cultivation forum ask the same questions day in and day out. what if we had a working thread that went over a chapter of that a week. i just think it might be educational instead of always ansewering the same questions. i know there is alot of great info in the facts. but there are several problems that you run into along the way that are covered in his book. just an idea. and maybe we can search out some other books when we finish that one.

I think you'd still get the questions.

im not looking for a complete turn around. i mean hell that what this forum is for. i just think that it would be good for the people that vist this forum to think on a much larger scale.

for instance lyserigic made a thread about his substrate being too wet. i don't know if he ever got an answer for what to do. i was reading last night and it said to add gypsum in small amounts to balance out the substrate. it think that was a two page thread with no definate answer at the end.

no doubt with experience. trial and error you get better. but without the knowledge ur going nowhere.

sounds like a good idea, but also a lot of work and people will still be asking the same questions. that's how it goes. if these people won't even read the faqs, do you think they are going to read a summary of a book?

i think it would help many people though. go for it.

it just seems kind of funny that people will put months of time and money into something. And not take it as far as possible.Even though it is cheap and its just for fun.

i know last year at this time i was still searching threw the vast array of trip reports before i even logged on.

i just thought we might all benefit from it. since we hang out here so much.

i think if i were to do it i would do a chapter a week and highlight the important issues in that chapter every week. and maybe even do some experiments with pictures and things. ofcourse more experienced people could pitch in with those experiments.

I'm with you, any knowledge is helpful for a basement mycologist (not my basement!). At the very least you could put up a book list.

i think the majority of people who ask stupid questions aren't the ones putting months of time into this hobby. they come here thinking cheap, easy shrooms then within no time they're gone. but, the book thing sounds good anyway so go ahead and start it up. if it works then maybe a mod will pin it to the top

Wouldn't this be a copyright infringement? You would need written permission from the author to do something like this.

I have to get you. sudying!!!!

im not lookin to publish the whole damn book. just to go over a chapter a week and highlight some of the more important things. Maybe doing some experiments. like with chapter two doing the agar cultures . I think many new growers pass that up with the pf tek and thats an important thing to learn if your ever going to keep a live culture.
