God as white light?
    #2031009 - 10/22/03 01:14 AM (13 years, 1 month ago)

Ive often heard God being described as a vibrant, powerful, all empowering white light of pure energy or love

now it makes sense...

White, as far as color goes - is all colors combined.

God, as far as everything goes, is everything combined?

why call it God then if you're referring to "The Everything?"

Calling it God simply makes the believers in more conventional "Gods" think you're talking about THEIR GOD, and it makes the non-believers think you're mislead

In my opinion, anyway..

I've seen the white light... It was more like a cloudyness that lifted me and made me balanced. Harmonized you could say.

to clear it up Id call it God for a few reasons

1) our Creator
2) Creator of Everything

"God, as far as everything goes, is everything combined? "

God is the ultimate representation of "Goodness", not because he is good and does good things, but because he is simply Good. Hard to explain. Read Plato's "Republic". He goes into a very interresting, and confusing explanation of it all.

why are you calling God "He," when we're talking about EVERYTHING, which would most-likely be sexless..

So many different "God" people believing in so many different "Gods," yet they still ALL want to VAGUELY call their belief "God." ^ This was an example of my original point

right right, well isnt "it" ( I don't think "it" even does justice), referred to as a "he" in the bible?

yeah, but my point is that people use "God" to describe THEIR OWN NON-BIBLICAL INTERPRETATION OF EXISTENCE.

In my opinion, the word "God" causes more trouble than its worth. Whenever somebody uses that word, how the fuck are we supposed to know WHICH "GOD" they're referring to?

it's just god as a concept, something that represents all that is good. God can ONLY be understood as a concept because we are not capable of fully understanding what "it" is, much like infinity or time.

right but there are so many different concepts of this same word "GOD" that I find it useless nowadays.

It's not that there are many concepts, but that there are many interpretations to the concept.

I think there are many interpretations of many different concepts of the word "God."

And if somebody interprets something differently, its automatically a different concept now, yet still labeled the same.

That's pretty bleak, don't you think?
Man is not only fully capable of understanding all these ideas and concepts, but we learn and master them on our own.
Perhaps we don't know everything about our surroundings yet, but I'd say we've done pretty good so far, and the book isn't over yet...

I understand what you're saying, and I agree.
But since we have to use words in this physical reality in order to communicate, what word/s would you use when talking about divinity?

Yes, and not only that, but in perfect balance.
So, for example, to be "like God" you would need to have a balanced personality.

Jesus is a great example. (Btw, I'm not pushing Christianity, I'm just using it as a touchstone). Jesus had a perfect balance of yin/yang or feminine/masculine energy. For example, he was compassionate yet forceful. The Jesus who had mercy on the lowest of the low was also the very same Jesus who angrily overturned the moneychangers' tables at the temple.

No contradiction. Just balance.
