Really stereotypical person * 2
    #20306784 - 07/21/14 04:58 PM (9 years, 8 months ago)

Have any of you ever met anybody who stood out to you as being extraordinarily stereotypical? I mean like, someone who is so much of an "average Joe" that it's like, not even average. Like, ya know?

I was at a Phish concert a few weeks back, and AFOAF that came with us, was just like that.

He was SO "normal". Like, I don't mean that in necessarily a bad or good way. It just was how it was.

But it really stood out in my mind, just how normal he was. Everything about him was just like, so normal and expected. He was a typical, run-of-the-mill sort of person. As far as I could tell there was literally no defining personality traits he had that were unique to him as an individual. He was like, a fellow human person. But, that's all there was to him.

I mean, I only was chillin with him for like 7 hours so I obviously can't say I knew him all too well. We all had a good time hanging out and whatnot, it was an awesome show.

It was like all of his dominant personality traits were the average of everybody's. Like if god had a graph of every person who was ever born with various percentiles of normalcy and averages, he would have been 100% average in every aspect, thorough and thorough.

He was such a like,..... festival/concert attendee in the year 2014.

He was just like....

I don't even know man. It was a trip.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN?

Maybe it's just because I was tripping. Again though, I'm not saying this as a bad sort of thing, or trying to come across as overly-judgmental or something. But this was like, a surreal experience.

I know a lot of people like that. They are so fucking average. Have no personality, no defining features, no ambitions, no goals, nothing interesting to say, no interesting thoughts, just fucking clones of each other. Cardboard cutout people. Wastes of oxygen.

They should all be rounded up and murdered.

Why do you believe you are not an " average joe " OP ?

And why do you begin sentences with , " I mean "

What I read into your post is a fairly stereotypical delusion that you will eventually overcome

It's the I'm so fucking special myth. You're not , few of us are.

You are in fact a reflection of external stimuli processed by that oh so special brain of yours and then repackaged and re-presented back to the rest of us as your original thoughts , ideas and personality

You are the result of a feedback loop of trite , unoriginal banter , trends , media influence , culture , cliches , memes , music , on and on...

But It's not original and you are only a special little snowflake in the eyes of mommy

And that should be good enough

Don't listen to that little bitch, OP. I know what you mean.

That real kind of "pedestrian" look, who probably has one nickelback CD and a "kiss the cook" apron and everything is Ikea and drives a minivan or some other lame piece of shit and works a data entry job for a mid-sized company that works out of a semi industrial estate.

THe kind of person you would run over in a car if they were on GTA

Im feelin you op, im not gonna get too deep into it but i knew this one dude from highschool and i was making small talk with him and i asked him what kinda music he liked. He responded that he never really liked music. And i was just baffled by this response of his. I thought to myself wow how can a person be so plain.

I never said being stereotypical "wasn't good enough"

Like I said twice, I wasn't saying this was a bad thing. it was just an observation.

I never said I myself was in any way at all better than, or even different than average

I liked how you worded this. And since you were tripping you probably were seeing into his personality, and yes he probably was just picking out the 'baseline' traits of the community he was in, and regurgitating them back as his own personality.

And ya know whats cool, is that if he was a part of a different group that night (say a group of people with personalities unlike yourselves) he probably would have appeared the same way to them. Regurgitating their baseline personality traits.

It's a smart way to get along with everyone. He probably is just a chill dude and who has no real qualms with anyone, and so to fit in wherever he is, just kind of molds himself to the group persona. He seems to just pretty much have been going with the flow. :mushroom2:

I would even go as far to suggest that maybe he has anxiety. From what I've noticed about myself and others with anxiety, it seems its easier for anxiety-riddled people to 'pick up' on the traits of everyone else. If he did have anxiety, then he probably didn't want to appear different in any way, and as a social tactic he just "reported back" what he saw....personality-wise.
