First ever hunt and found a range of mushrooms, near a river, near grazing animals, on grass, near woodland in Burnley, Lancashire!

Have I been successful in my first hunt?

Thanks!

That's exactly what I thought to be honest, reasoning for the three separate images, that's all I found today, should I check the area again in a couple of weeks? I have some better idea places in mind I want to check, the concensus here seems to be that season has started but is there a peak time? Why do people go picking early mornings, is that a legality thing?

Yeah i guessed that you knew which ones were libs as you already had them separated

I'd check back a few days after the next rain, although it sounds like a humid spot so with some morning dew there could be more in a week, a good tip if you can't help checking sooner rather than later try to check from a distance so you don't potentially trample all the new pins (baby mushrooms) that are forming

Peak time for you is just around the corner mid September early October, peak for the South is usually October from what i've read round here and from what i've seen

It is insanity but they are illegal to pick whatever time of day you pick them, some may go out in the mornings to avoid being spotted or to simply get there first

So, how long does it take for one mushroom to grow, can a new one form over night?

Much appreciate the info!

I hope they were all libs, chomped them down raw! Probably won't be enough to get visuals but I couldn't resist! It's been years since I've tried so tolerance should be low!

Have fun Lancsben, good vibes to you, it's hard to resist them once you've picked them isn't it. That's why I ate the ones I found up in the hills on Saturday morning, great times.

Nice find NorthYork, those look quite big with long stems, were they in long grass?

It's definitely kicking off now folks!

What sort of heights were these found at? It's useful to know if they're only showing in the higher ground or are coming out at the lower levels as the temps drop.

Just been to a couple spots there, not enough rain and the bigger field still didn't feel damp enough, sucks being on the coast as we get a peak of about 2 weeks and boom the frost hits! MUST get up into the hills of northumberland and they'll be going a plenty there!!!

signs of fungi developing down at the coast though, just not enough rain here as things seem to be just kicking off and past few year its been well before now!!

Nice find Tojosan .there are 2 that look a bit odd on your 1st pic , top right second one down and bottom row fourth one from the left . You should be able to tell by the texture of the caps compared to the rest . All in all nice find

Not sure about libs but i found when growing cubensis that once a small mushroom had formed it could easily become a decent sized mushroom overnight, that's in a controlled environment but cubes are much bigger than libs, given the right environment i could see them popping up overnight
