Why only liberty cap season, as there are many types of magic mushrooms in the UK, I've personally seen pan cints, cyanecens, subs and fly agaric...
Here is the official UK magic mushie thread is it not?

I don't have pictures as I can't find the cable to hook my camera to the PC. Opps.

IMO liberty caps deserve their own thread

Yeah that's my fault, got the liberty cap ID confirmed and someone said I should create an official thread, I'm new to the site and just took the advice then it was pointed out to me that another thread was already going so I thought the best thing to do would be to change it to liberty caps as these were the first of the season.

I agree, Liberty caps in the UK threads, as in previous years benefit everyone hunting them by having their own thread. If you add the other varieties in the same thread it will make it harder for newbies to discover them, they are the most widespread as far as I know too so best to keep it simple I think.

Sorry about the lack of Pics, I found the cable but had some how messed up with the camera, I'll climb the hill again and see what I can see.
As for seperate threads, I think it makes sense, we don't want the unusal finds to be lost amongst the heaps of libs we'll all be hauling in soon;)
I'm a newbie here though...

This thread gets me as excited as most people when they see the Coke Christmas lorry advert!!! No longer living in Shropshire with my known haunts unfortunately but hey, I've ended up further north in Yorkshire -fancy that!!

An hours dog walk in Shropshire last year gave me these, hoping (praying) for another bountiful season

I had another look today. There was no new growth, too hot I think.
Here are a couple of the sundried shrooms.

I had a little scout the other day while I was out for a walk, didn't find any mushrooms at all, let alone liberty caps.
It was in the mendips, so yeah I think the south has a little while to go. It's raining now though, and forecast for more over the weekend, so fingers crossed!

The mushrooms in the photos I didn't exmaine to closely but I the ones I picked a few days before had a pellicle, the gills attached to the stem and there where none fruiting directly from the dung.
They definately had Psilocybin in them.
My uncertainty was strictipes or semilanceata, untill a couple of weeks back I didn't know there was a difference as everyone around here calls both types liberty caps.

You'll have a hard time anyway separating P. strictipes from P. semilanceata in the field. The differences are mainly microscopical, the former having smaller spores. P. strictipes is apparently also quite rare in comparison to P. semilanceata.

I live in West Yorkshire and the same couple of patches in one area have supplied me with plenty over the last four years. It's at roughly 340m and has a healthy supply all season long. Ventured up the past two weekends and there's nothing much yet. In years gone by the season has kicked off up there by now but I'm not worried yet, this rain is just what we need.
