I'd be more than happy to have a joint thread, I'm sure whoever makes these doesn't specify UK in order to shut Ireland out lol.

Far south West Mids there, although i do belive there are some nice hilly spots in the Hereford area. I've not found a single lib any where here yet. Might have to start looking in some new places as the fields i know that produce them just aren't fruiting yet?

Nice to see that people are finding loads already. I went for a walk before and couldn't believe how many there were growing. I got a good few handfulls and left the little ones to grow.

Found loads today. Biggest haul i've managed. All at about 400m, generally nothing much lower than that though.
They were in the longer grass, was up at 11 and could see quite a few but by 4-5pm they had started to dry so it was much easier to find em. Clusters everywhere shouting out to be picked whereas in the morn they had hidden quite well.

I went out for a 1-2 hour walk this morning and it was gorgeous despite the recent cold spell, following my post on this thread back on 16th August I visited some of the potential spots I found last time, and boy was I in for a treat:
They were all at about 320-350m along about a mile long route and on a North slope, I could have gone on and probably got 100's but I had to get back. I suspect this area will be producing well over the next few weeks and hopefully longer.
Don't know how many I got but there were clumps upon clumps of them, usually in groups of 3 or more, I generally picked the bigger ones and left the small developing ones to flourish.
I even found them in areas I'd walked on many times in the past, either my eyes have really picked up sensitivity to them or it's a bumper year for them. As it's such a vast area I walk on, it crossed my mind as to how many 10's and 100's I probably walk close by without ever knowing they're there, even on the short walk I did this morning.

I think it's a bumper year - the spots i have visited so far have been much more fruitful than previous years, particularly for this early in the season.
Take a look at this beautiful trio i stumbled across today...

Wikipedia is an awful source for information. Cubes need high temps and high humidity so the UK isn't suitable for them. Also they grow from dung. Very little chance they were cubes.

I went to wikipedia to correct that but couldn't find a reference to the UK. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psilocybe_cubensis
They don't grow here - are you sure you meant P. cubensis?

Hey guys! Great too see that the season is we'll underway! I've had a couple of days out locally with no luck for libs yet.
What altitude should I be looking at? I live in Manchester and not many hilly places here! Can't wait to find my first one can't imagine the feeling haha !

Nice find. There's nothing like going out for a walk in a beautiful area and finding these in the grass in front of you.
The only problem I did have yesterday was there were loads of people around walking their dogs, jogging etc. Normally I go out early to avoid this issue, but I went out a bit later this time and came across more people that I'd ever seen up there. Generally if there are people around I'll try and be a bit discrete by taking some photos which I like doing anyway, or dropping my bag and getting a bottle of water out of it for a drink. But there were so many people going by obviously out enjoying the weather and scenery as I was, in the end I went 'ah fuck it' and just carried on blatantly picking away. People would have clocked what I was doing I'm sure but either couldn't give a toss or didnt appreciate what I was picking.
Has anyone else come across this issue or been confronted whilst out picking before? If be interested to hear how other people deal with company.
