At what time did you consume these? Are you feeling any stomach discomfort? Could you take one more closeup of the stem and gills?

They look and sound to me like  Marasmius oreades, the fairy ring mushroom. If so, they're edible so you should be alright.  But if you start puking and such get help.

Oh, BTW, if you don't know what it is, don't eat it :smirk:...

They do not appear to be deadly, and sporeprint, habitat, and pictures point to Marasmius oreades. However, It is extremely important that you realize the seriousness and the shear stupidity of what you did. Those could have easily been deadly galerinas, or another poisonious species. Its things like this that give mycology and the mushroom culture a bad name, and you should realize how truly stupid what you did was.

What's up with everyone trying to kill themselves recently? Jeez, if you're dying to get high (pun totally intended) just go get some fucking cough syrup or dramamine. Don't fuck around with mushrooms unless you're willing to put the requisite time and effort into your identification skills. Sheesh. <Jumps off his soapbox>

it's a disturbing surge in an ever present trend.

i do not like to make someone in this situation feel worse, but i hope you will never do taht again. it could easily have spelled your end, or a verry unpleasant existance dependant uppon supportive medical treatment for the rest of your life.

you must remember to properly id every find before consumption
it strikes me that many users don't seem to actualy understand what this entails and need to do a lot of research before consuming any wild mushroom finds. there is ample info in the FAQ to get everyone started in this and enough info net-wide to give everybody as much help as they can use.

I have a suspicion that many of these posters have not actually 'ingested' anything, rather, it speeds up the reply/identification of those on the shroomery as it is now considered 'urgent.'

That would be just dirty. We've talked about banning people from specific forums before. It hasn't been done yet but if we found out someone pulled that kind of crap, they might be the first one to be banned from a particular forum.

Hallucinogenic doesn't include Amanita muscaria. There is an entire category in their report for Ibotenic Acid.

I have no details at all on it. You know exactly as much as I do.

I read throught that paper and the problem with these kind of survey reports are that there are no references for the csources citred to verify the statistics contain herein.

I also notice3 these statistic.

41 deaths due to heroin overdose or relate.
91 deaths due to cocaine ( no distinction between coke and/or crack,
and the largest in the area of drug deaths were due to Pharmaceutical man-made drugs which totaled 2,130.

Nothing mentions in the report any references as to the death caused by a hallucinogenic mushroom and The Atlanta Poison Control Center has no data to support a death from a hallucinogenic mushroom. It is possible that the death was attributed to a hallucinogenic mushroom by someone who ate what he thought were hallucinogenic mushrooms.

The 6-year-old boy who died in the early 1960s reportedly ate P. baeocystis and many shroom guides gave warnings about that mushroom for more than 30 40 years, however I obtained actual polaroids fromt he drs who wrote the paper and the shrooms were Psilocybe cyanescens. The original article mentioned that other shrooms may have been involved but they were never looked for in the autopsy. This was also similatr tot he john Gomilla case in Hawaii where a youth ate 10 magic shrooms (Copelandia and died to days later. Hawaiian newspapers wrote, "Boy eats 10 magic mushrooms and Dies." thoe were the headlines.

After studying this case, and knowning that ten Copelandia shrooms would not even kill anyone, I obtained a copy of thye death cetificate 17 years aftrer the incident, not without much hassle from the coroner's office who wanted to know why I was trying to make trouble about an old case, we found that the biy actually died from causes due to morphine or heroin use. Morphine traces were found in his biulge months after his death.

Samples were sent to the mainland at the time of his death to look for amatoxins. I asked the original coroner why amatoxins and he said he read about them in some magazine.

anyway, never eat something that you have no idea what they are.

I did that a few times in the early 1970s of shrooms from manure in Oregon and I consider myself very luck.

mj

While I am sure that the majority of the statistics in this report are accurate or close tot he figures represented in their paper, I also am sure that there are errors in the counting of these instances of death listed in that paper.

Again this shows the priority of law enforcement who go after the heroin users, abusers and suppliers before they go adfter the coke/crack heads.

They are exactly as DethHed said, they are Merasmius oreades the common fairy ring shroom. And god you are one lucky dude.

Please do not go about eating shrooms when you do not known what you are doing. It could kill you. ANd if they were the readly dedly kind then they do not affect you until 12-24 hours after you have eten them and then your chances of survival are actually pretty slim.

i believe it is possible taht the death attributed to hallucinogenic mushrooms might have been due to mixed collection ingestion.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a fatal traffic accident and they were able to detect traces of psilocin in their blood. Or something equally stupid like that.

that's not be much of a strech.
they are always on the look out for a reason to slander psilocybian mushrooms, and it dosen't have to be possible as long as it gets printed in medical literature.
