Difference between Hirsute, Hispid, & Hyphae?
    #2028473 - 10/21/03 01:27 PM (13 years, 8 months ago)

hirsute -hairy

hispid- covered with stiff bristle-like hairs usually visible to the naked eye.

hyphae- filamentous threads of a fungal mycelium

All three seem very similar. Just wondered if anyone could describe the difference a little better. I have some growth on my cakes now. Some look like single pointy pins (without dark heads), some look like fans, and some like buttes<<
Thanks

whatja want, a flowery description of mycelial above-surface growth? okay:

cottony mounds, resplendent in their tumultuous glory, the mycelium abuts proudly beyond the substrate surface, like a frayed toothbrush dipped in cotton wool, a cloud that venus claimed as her pillow, an albino virgin's pubic crown, buttery lumps of fungal delight.
