This reading may prove further useful to you:

"Many Florida cattle ranchers leave the tips on the horns of the cattle so that they cows can defend themselves..."

http://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/killing-coyotes-101-daytime-and-night-hunting-problem-coyotes/

Thanks for the info, shroom detective. You seem to know your stuff about cattle here. Do you still have any contracts or work with cattle?

I've only experienced cattle coming towards me because they think I have food or something for them- or perhaps they're simply just curious?

Besides those rare occasions they stick to themselves and seem like they prefer to keep their distance... only rarely will I feel uncomfortable around them.

Do you know if the older breeds of cattle, as in Cracker Cattle from the Spanish since around 1904, are more dangerous? Some of these bulls have 2 foot horns..

Yes, they can be more dangerous, both male and females have horns. Females can be very protective of their calf. They tend to move around a little and can deal with the conditions in FL and are know for hardy traits as well as resistance to parasites. This time of year they have their little ones around and can get really angry when someone gets near their young.  With a cracker female cow having horns snd knowing how to use them be careful, most people easily confuse them for a bull due to how active they can be.

I'm around Martin/St. Lucie county... is there anything I can find that doesn't grow in cow fields? I'm just here on vacation so I'm not familiar with the area.

Shroom Det. Can you send a better photo of the Geese, you have caught my interest. I am out in these areas and might have seen these geese you speak of :pm:.
That bull has some of the biggest testicles ever. Now the owner of him can make so much more money from selling a lot of sperm every month. 8000 straws a month at 100pound a straw. That's equal to $160,000 USA every month. If every straw sells.

Yeah, check out oak hammocks (preferably old growth) and such and you may find chanterelles, oysters, and other edibles (and cool fungi besides those).

Check out some state parks, preserves, private non-profit properties, etc.

and BTW im not sure people should be posting their locations on here... might be against the rules.

I could, but I am pretty tight with the better ones.  I doubt this one will help much, but it is pretty funny (she was simply playing).

The ganders are white and have exquisite blue eyes (not a shot, he merely had a feather cyst).  Special note, they cannot digest antibiotics.

Regarding Garth's mighty sperm, it is all surely back-ordered.

:awkwardconfusion:

...what???

what is the FL thread coming to these days......

Weird ain't it. It is all apart of the hunting aspect I guess, a lot of the same areas that are prime for Fungi are also places that are as close to the original habitats that a lot of diverse an endangered species prefer. But I will admit that the thing about the bull tentacles was pushing it a little to far.

Am I the one whom originally asked for tips about livestock?  Nope!

I do adore Bill Murray, though.

I placed these under the pool as showed and then I forgot about them a day or two to long. Gotta love our rains lately otherwise this would have been a different story.
