striping on stem on agar fruit

Ok so a while back I started some brf substitute plates in a couple little jars. Anyway, watched them for a couple days before forgetting about them and today I looked at them and one of the jars had not only colonized but fruited as well. Anyway, one of the small fruits has a thin black line running right down the stem from the cap to the base.
Super curious as to what I have here... I cant imagine it being a contam making this line, am wondering if it is a genetic trait or mutation I might could encourage out into a strain that has a stripe. This agar was started from a second gen mush from a wild print.
Whacha think?

Btw that other fuzzy lump next to the fruit in question is, in fact, another fruit with a very fuzzy base, since there was no fae. Also noteworthy, the striped fruit DOES have a cap, unopened as of yet, and the line seems to continue up onto the cap and stops right at the tip of the center of the cap. The fruit kind of curves over and back downwards away from the camera so its tough to see the cap in the pic, tho in the first pic you can kind of see the stripe continuing on the cap.

I've seen that a few times on full grown fruits, though I've never seen the stripes continue onto the cap. They've never been black either, just dark brown. Interesting. My guess is just an odd genetic trait.

Thats what I was thinking. Have you ever pursued isolating a genetic stripe? I think it would be cool to get a strain in which the fruits were striped. Possible? Who knows. But definitely cool.

I don't see the point, I've never tried it nor want to. I'm not sure if it's possible. I'm not even sure it's genetic. Give it a try and let us know.

Most people isolate for things like yield, or potency. Cosmetics while a valid reason, are not usually high up on peoples list for isolating.

I wonder if you could isolate the genetic stripe and then clone a nice big one out of the isolate?

y would you clone an isolate when you already got it on agar

Good point, I didnt quite think of that, I just really thought the stripe was so unique it might be worth trying to replicate.

Well, yes I have it on a plate, but I haven't transferred any sectors or done any isolation work from it yet... this is an MS solution inoculated plate. So, even tho its ON the plate, no agar work has really been done. (Maybe I'm missing your point tho, I AM still learning here)

ok i gotcha now

thats where you confused me as that statement would mean you have already isolated your culture, making cloning pointless Quote:

great plan just keep at it! i normally just make sure the groth is clean and skip the whole isolating thing
