no dont do that, go get some ez-felt, or what ever it is all the cool guys are using, tyvek is good for like one use, so you would have to keep on re doing the ge holes, also, dont put more holes in your lids, i did, and even now if i was to use a syringe, i just open the lid a bit and squirt some spore in.....

Haven't tried it personally, but I see threads advocating the handiness of those lids all the time. It's probably what I'm going to do on my next grow.

a postal tyvek sorta sucks, although i use it all the time, but after each run, i never reuse the same piece,
i made lids with the self healing port, but now im into agar, plus that silicone crap will evenualy where out and youll have to replace the port, and where is goes for ge.
just put one hole in for ge, and use the rtv silcone to glue on some of that felt shit people use
i made those lids, i now have ten lids that sorta suck.
if your going to stick with this hobby you will get into agar at some point
also if you use a sab, you should have no problem opening the lid, squiting some spores in and closing it, anit no worse than g2g

I use this tek for my lids and they work fine. I open air inoculate by taking a sponge soaked in isopropyl alochol (I use 91% just cus that's what I have around for cleaning my pipe), plunge my syringe into the sponge, rub down the silicon port, place the sponge with the syringe inside onto the hole, and push the syringe down in, squirt, pull out till the syringe tip is in the middle of the sponge like before, and then go onto the next one.
Works great for me :P

OK great advice, Does that mean i can make a tyvek GE port do a G2G style innoc in my sab with LC/agar and replace the tyvek with an SFD later?
Also is it worth innocing with mycelium that has not been transferred to new agar yet(its in the petri that has the tissue) or would LC be better?

I don't know much about agar/lc so I can't comment on that.
You can always remove the filter and replace it with something else by cutting the silicon off I suppose.

I reattach small squares of tyvek to my lid with 2 layers of micropore tape. I redo these GE filters every round. I like the self healing injection ports as well.

agar ftw, with lc you cant tell if it good till you use it, and even then you can contam it when you go to draw some up, but with agar you can always see if its clean or not

Tyvek is only good for a single use, and not very good for that. When you PC it the pores get bigger, letting contams in. If you must use postal Tyvek, use 2 layers and throw it away each time.
Replace that Tyvek with a wad of Polyfil stuffed very tight and you've got a solid lid.
