Help please
    #20241879 - 07/08/14 12:24 PM (10 years, 6 months ago)

Hey dudes, I've tried searching but to be honest this is more just a problem of identifying cobweb mold, so it's an isolated instance. As a run through, I've never used anything but a grow kit/box, and I'm really looking forward to making my own cakes, but right now I'm focusing on identifying mold/problems/growing them correctly before I put my full focus into it.

I am growing an XL B+ Grow, supposedly a very resilient strain, but I'm afraid that I had a case of Cobweb mould (Only a week since I started, so maybe not?).

For a run down, I soaked the substrate 12 hours, drained it, filled the bag with a cup of water and put the plastic container into the bag, sealing the air exchange bag with the paperclips. I've since moved it to the window (sun is gone down today, I was just thinking it might dry it out if it is cobweb?)

Anyway, pictures were hard to get but this is what I suspect is either white fuzz (good) or Cobweb (bad).

Apologies for the poor image, I had to photograph through the bag as I was afraid of contamination.

Cheers for reading,
Danner.

From that pic it is looking ok.  I see a few main spots of cube mycelium, and not all wispy grey growth.

Looks like you have straight verm layer on top and the mycelium is trying to colonize it.  I would increase the fresh air but I don't think you have any contam problems.

Yep.  They're bad for a lot of things, but especially for getting enough FAE to your mushrooms.  It really hurts your yield a lot, since if this is one of the pre-colonized ones they tend to use a pretty good isolate.

Thanks a lot dude!

As an update, the mushrooms are extremely healthy. I've been told that B+ are a rather large strain, and I was growing mazatapecs last time, and these babies have very much outgrown them even already.
