Myc stalled after shaking...do these look right?
    #20272117 - 07/14/14 04:47 PM (10 years, 6 months ago)

Total noob here...I have since made some jars...but, these bags are my first venture. Everything seemed to be doing fine. Then I shook/massaged the bag to help with colonization and this happened. The bags were dry and now they are moist inside and it looks like a lot of metabolites or something worse popped up.

I don't have enough experience to know if they are contaminated or not. Any help would be appreciated.

The first bag looks okay. The second bag looks like it has a bacterial infection.

I have a thermometer next to the bags and it never goes above 80 degrees. It is usually around 75. All that humidity showed up right after breaking up the myc.

Do you think the first bag is at 100 percent and ready to mix with my substrate?

I've done lots of bags and jars. I found incubating to be more problems than its worth. Tested with and without heat. Not really much of a speed increase "If any" really that I noticed at all when incubating or not incubating

Yeah, from what I've read incubating isn't necessary. I just keep it at room temperature which fluctuates between 73 and 80 depending on whether I'm home or not.

Anyone else have an opinion on the two bags?

I'm going to add the first bag to my substrate tomorrow and hopefully it works out. I'm not sure what to do with the second bag though.

Wait and see if it fully colonizes.
